Someone needs to ask how much this little stunt cost, who is paying for it, who's idea it was, and who approved it. In this economy when too many have to decide between gas and groceries it is insane that Der Uberbama feels free to squander hundreds of thousands of dollars on a photo op.

I have the same question - what was the purpose of this photo op? Was it another self-promoting Obama stunt? The use of AF1 strongly suggests that this was somehow intended as part of some White House PR gimmick.

Something to think about from a freeper in another thread on this subject:
If that was a photo op, where was the plane taking the photos? I assume you want a photo of the Air Force One from the side with the skyline in the background, but the trailing F-16 could not have served in this role, as it was behind the 747. So where is the aircraft that was taking these photos?
