The phony hypocritical apologists helping Notre Dame build its Catholic Potemkin village have had their way long enough. Now its time for the truth.
As we draw closer to May17, when Barack Obama will speak at Notre Dames graduation ceremony the schools secular apologists are turning up their barrage of lies and misinformation.
They want to talk about phony issues not Obamas murderous intentions toward innocent babies. Were supposed to forget Notre Dame knows full well whats in Obamas evil heart.
Contrary to these apologists self delusions, we are not against Obama because he is Black or necessarily because of his position on stem cells.
Obamas love of abortion is the issue were willing to fight over even if it has become all too acceptable at too many so called Catholic colleges.
The heart of the problem is Obamas support of POST birth abortion; the murder of babies labeled inconvenient and expendable after their miraculous survival of an abortion.
Regardless of Notre Dames rhetoric their invitee is a Mengele-like creature who would order the death of inconvenient babies and Father Jenkins fully understands this.
Obama proposed letting these babies die in a broom closet agonizing from hunger and thirst because their survival would violate the original intent of an abortion.
This is a clear contradiction of every fiber of Catholic doctrine. It is obvious cooperation with evil and a shining example of giving scandal to impressionable people. It gives powerful ammunition to those who would destroy the Catholic Church.
This travesty will go on and it begs the question: In return for his royal visit will Obama rub Notre Dames face in the mud and demand religious items be covered as he did at Georgetown? If so Notre Dame, the Catholic Potemkin village, will deserve it. But we wont.
Obama proposed letting these babies die in a broom closet agonizing from hunger and thirst because their survival would violate the original intent of an abortion.
BTTT
At least it will keep some faithful Catholics from sending their kids to a faux-Catholic school. where they will be turned into liberals like Father Jenkins.
Notre Dame = pro-abortion “Catholic” school.
Might take another generation to clear out all the fruits and lefties who infiltrated the church over the past 30 years. Always young boys who were molested. Disgusting fruits. Just amazing that such a small portion of our populace should have such an influential voice, but we can blame soft-headed women who ‘feel sorry for them’ among the primary culprits/facilitators.
Where does Kevin”Coach” Collins come from? Is he someone who knows anything or does he just bloviate?
No matter WHAT happens ... ND will never be the same ... as will America.
DAMN zero !
Prof. Mary Ann Glendon, in a courageous act, decided to back out of the charade today, turning down the Laetare Medal that she was to be awarded at the same event.
I wonder why “Rudy” has been on AMC so much lately? The media libs need some sympathy for ND.
A Notre Dame Witness for Life (Talk at Notre Dame U - April 23, 2009)
William McGurn has slightly better credentials than "Coach Collins".
Not only does William McGurn write as a Columnist for the Wall Street Journal, but he was also the lead speech writer for former President George W. Bush...
But Notre Dame is more than Jenkins and the left leaning faculty, so don't you guys dare paint the entire place and its alums with that brush. Since Hesburgh left, Notre Dame hasn't the first clue about how to deal with issues. This school can't go two weeks without tripping over it's own feet and embarrassing itself. Over the last fifteen years they had a mess with Kim Dunbar and an NCAA violation, they fired an old guy, Joe Moore and were sued for age discrimination, the end of the Holtz Era was not all that pretty, they had the George O'Leary Fiasco, then the Ty Willingham mess and then the Urban Meyer miscues capped off with this Obama thing.
The place lacks leadership, but it does not lack students and alums who care about the Catholic nature of the place and unless you've walked the campus, gone to Mass and spent any time there, I'd say you aren't able to fully assess what the problem is at Notre Dame. Sure, the leadership is a mess, but not the underlying student body, dedicated priests, some faculty and the alums. Just be careful about painting with such a borad brush. Flame away folks.
ig
No flame, ig.
My daughter goes to ND, and I agree with much of what you say. i can feel the Spirit, literally, when I am on campus.
But this is, in many ways, the most important time in ND history. I have spoken with many alums who feel the exact same way as you- and the problem is that Board of Trustees and the administration of the University do not hold the same values as the alumni do. For instance, Rev. Jenkins also recently appointed a new law school dean who is also pro-abortion.
You and fellow alums hold the most power in this incident, because you guys donate, buy stuff from the biggest bookstore on any campus, go to football games, and send your children there. You all have a bigger, more listened to voice than the rest of us do.
For better or worse, Notre Dame is seen by many American Catholics who did not go to college as their de facto alma mater. Millions of Catholics are looking towards ND to do the right thing, to not go the way of so many other Catholic Universities- especially those run by Jesuits (yes, I’ll pick on Jesuits, since I have a “fine” Jesuit education), and just be Catholic. Just be Catholic.
Notre Dame is, profoundly, a Roman Catholic place. That’s why this is confusing and painful to so many of us Catholics in the US.
Mary Ann Glendon apparently agrees. Today she turned down the Laetare Medal, and decided not to participate in the commencement.
Any person who would take the life of an infant to keep from being inconvenienced has no honor or decency, no matter what his life’s position is. Anyone who confers an honor onto them is doing a serious wrong and a deliberate deception.
From Ecclesiasticus Chapter 8
Other lessons of wisdom and virtue.
1 Strive not with a powerful man, lest thou fall into his hands. 2 Contend not with a rich man, lest he bring an action against thee. 3 For gold and silver hath destroyed many, and hath reached even to the heart of kings, and perverted them. 4 Strive not with a man that is full of tongue, and heap not wood upon his fire.
Given this action by Professor Mary Ann Glendon, the prohibitions of Canon 915 and 916 and Father Jenkins hiring of a pro choice supporting 1973 Berkeley grad as Notre Dames new Law School Dean, Id say the Collins Report is on the right side of this issue.
Glendon declines Notre Dame medal

Breaking news in the controversy over the University of Notre Dame’s decision to grant an honorary degree to President Barack Obama: Harvard Law Professor Mary Ann Glendon has decided to decline the university’s prestigious Laetare Medal, which was to be awarded at the same commencement ceremony.
Here is the letter Glendon, who was the Bush Administration’s final ambassador to the Holy See, sent this morning to Notre Dame President the Rev. John I. Jenkins:
“Dear Father Jenkins,
When you informed me in December 2008 that I had been selected to receive Notre Dame’s Laetare Medal, I was profoundly moved. I treasure the memory of receiving an honorary degree from Notre Dame in 1996, and I have always felt honored that the commencement speech I gave that year was included in the anthology of Notre Dame’s most memorable commencement speeches. So I immediately began working on an acceptance speech that I hoped would be worthy of the occasion, of the honor of the medal, and of your students and faculty.
Last month, when you called to tell me that the commencement speech was to be given by President Obama, I mentioned to you that I would have to rewrite my speech. Over the ensuing weeks, the task that once seemed so delightful has been complicated by a number of factors.
First, as a longtime Consultant to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, I could not help but be dismayed by the news that Notre Dame also planned to award the President an honorary degree. This, as you must know, was in disregard of the U.S. Bishops express request of 2004 that Catholic institutions “should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles” and that such persons “should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.” That request, which in no way seeks to control or interfere with an institution’s freedom to invite and engage in serious debate with whomever it wishes, seems to me so reasonable that I am at a loss to understand why a Catholic university should disrespect it.
Then I learned that “talking points” issued by Notre Dame in response to widespread criticism of its decision included two statements implying that my acceptance speech would somehow balance the event:
“President Obama won’t be doing all the talking. Mary Ann Glendon, the former US Ambassador to the Vatican, will be speaking as the recipient of the Laetare Medal.”
“We think having the President come to Notre Dame, see our graduates, meet our leaders, and hear a talk from Mary Ann Glendon is a good thing for the President and for the causes we care about.”
A commencement, however, is supposed to be a joyous day for the graduates and their families. It is not the right place, nor is a brief acceptance speech the right vehicle, for engagement with the very serious problems raised by Notre Dame’s decision—in disregard of the settled position of the U.S. Bishops—to honor a prominent and uncompromising opponent of the Church’s position on issues involving fundamental principles of justice.
Finally, with recent news reports that other Catholic schools are similarly choosing to disregard the Bishops’ guidelines, I am concerned that Notre Dames example could have an unfortunate ripple effect.
It is with great sadness, therefore, that I have concluded that I cannot accept the Laetare Medal or participate in the May 17 graduation ceremony.
In order to avoid the inevitable speculation about the reasons for my decision, I will release this letter to the press, but I do not plan to make any further comment on the matter at this time.
Yours very truly,
Mary Ann Glendon”
And here is a statement from Father Jenkins:
We are, of course, disappointed that Professor Glendon has made this decision. It is our intention to award the Laetare Medal to another deserving recipient, and we will make that announcement as soon as possible. In other words, like Henry, I have my own stooges who will put aside Catholic doctrine to shake hands with the devil.
Jenkins has been President since 2005 and if he is as naive as you want us to believe, then he has no business being a Priest let alone being the President of the university named after the Blessed Mother.
He is naive in the sense that I think he sincerely believed that the alums would not mind inviting the new black president to speak at Notre Dame. I do not believe he thought through how upset alums and non alums would get over Obama’s abortion stance. Certain priests just think guys like Obama are great and they look away when it comes to their awful abortion position. I’m not defending Jenkins in any way, just suggesting he doesn’t understand the real world having lived among academics all his life.
Obama has actually done us a favor, by exposing Notre Dame as a fraudulent Catholic University. Sadly, most Catholic colleges today are Catholic in name only. This has been the case for about 30 years. At least the story is finally getting out.
