Napolitano declares public health emergency @ 1:01 pm by Eric Zimmermann
The United States will declare the swine flu outbreak a public health emergency, Homeland Security Director Janet Napolitano said today.
Speaking at a White House press briefing, Napolitano said the declaration is not as severe it sounds.
"It allows us to free up state and local resources" that otherwise would not be available, Napolitano said.
The declaration does not necessarily convey the authority to initiate quarantines.
"We're nowhere near that kind of decision," Napolitano said.
Also at the briefing, the Director of the Center for Disease Control, Richard Besser, warned that there will likely be more cases of the swine flu detected in the U.S., adding those cases will grow more severe.
This whole outbreak is looking more suspect all the time. All these declarations seem to be happening too fast. Much like the socialists in Congress ramming bill after bill down our throats without anyone having time to understand the contents.
I hope he’s not worn out, I mean what with starting work at 9-ish...

Yep, we’re all getting paranoid and very soon everyone with an ache, pain or cold will suddenly feel overcome with swine flu. Count on it. Not that any cold flu or other illness is something to joke about but I think a lot of people here will believe they have something they do not have at all.

Also remember that Obama himself was recently exposed. He is putting caddies and golf course employees at risk. :)

People, we may not be able to rely on our government for common sense. It is up to us. Don't travel to Mexico, don't hang with people who just got back from there, take plenty of vitamin D or get enough sunlight (please google this as a prevention), and wash your hands a lot. Do not touch your face unless you know your hands are pristine. Don't go to huge crowded places if you can avoid it.
A virus cocktail, of course. That's how the viruses get blended, to make them more effective at causing pandemonium.

How about Mix-Flu? - They mix the genetic components of all the viruses together by including them all in a vaccine, thus hoping to get a broader, and more potent resulting virus from the infected individuals.
There is a chance that this is an arryficially created virus that is benign at first, designed to mutate into something horrible.
This is becaiuse the virus has swine, avian,humman and and other unrelated gene strings in its make up that could not have likely evolved anyway except in a lab.( Pigs and ducks are not raised together in Mexico.)
This has the feds nervous, but they are NOT saying anything to the public about it.They want to contain the vius before it mutates. The race is on.
This is a mutating viral threat.
