Obama on Saturday announced a plan for federal workers to propose ways to improve their agencies' and departments' budgets. The president said employees' ideas would be key as his Cabinet officials try to cut millions from the budget and trim the deficit.

President Obama does not intend to balance the budget. It’s time to push for the Balanced Budget Amendment.

here are a couple examples of where to start from CAGW:

"The Mighty Windbag Award," giving it to Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) "for $47,575 for the Harlem United wind power project,"

"The Dim Bulb Award" to Sens. Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) and Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick (D-Mich.) "for $951,500 for downtown Detroit energy efficient street lamps,"

"The Water Taxi to Nowhere Award" to former GOP Rep. Chris Shays (R-Conn.), who managed to score $1.9 million for a Pleasure Beach water taxi service project before being voted out of Congress.

Let's see, you spend money and rape the taxpayers like a drunken sailor with a pocket full of viagra, and then pretend you are fiscally responsible because you ask department heads to submit plans to use fewer staples. If you want to save your skin, I'd suggest you stop blaming your failings on Bush and start investigating how your Senate and Congress buddies, along with George Soros conspired to sink the banks at the same time they managed to run up oil prices. I know I'm just one of those suspicious right wing conspiracy fools, but the timing and DemonRAT fingerprints are all over the place.

That’s obvious. Who wants the commoners, who he said are only capable of paying taxes, to make recommendations?

It’s an interesting dynamic he sets up. He claims to have team members or allies but then sets up systems to bypass them and get “the goods” on those team members or allies. He has “czars” against cabinet secretaries, federal employees against both the secretaries and czars, lawyers against the intelligence community, retired military against the serving military, state houses and senates against their governors, citizens against their state political apparatus, WOT prisoners against their guards, union members against their employers. Now a lot of that isn’t new by any means but he is playing the competition to the hilt and billing himself as the all-knowing, all-wise conciliator, all while gathering to himself all kinds of ammunition against anyone who might turn against him.

Or am I being paranoid?

It’s an AP story. By definition it is a puff-piece. The thought that government will reduce spending is a joke. Such drivel should not be posted.

Obama: Give me ideas on tightening federal belt

Eliminate DHS, consolidate intelligence to one agency instead of multiple ones that are always going to compete as teams no matter how many walls you tear down.

Eliminate ATF. Alcohol, tobacco, and firearms are all legal. We don't need a fed-level bunch of door kickers SWATing around the country.

Legalize pot. Far less harmful than tobacco, and honestly, we need the revenue because the government has spent far too much money that we don't have and our credit rating is at risk.

Simplify the tax code and cut back the IRS.

I have other ideas, but they start to cut into areas that many of us agree are important. And if you did all of the above, the federal government would be in better shape.

Finally, in my opinion, the federal government should not be allowed to run a deficit except in the most serious of wartime. It has shown it is incapable of running a deficit responsibly, and it becomes too easy to print money. Any increase in expenditures has to be met with an increase in taxes. Any cut in taxes has to be met with a cut in expenditures.

"...as his Cabinet officials try to cut millions from the budget..."

Now really - will cutting just millions do any good?
