SEEKONK, Mass. -- Shane Murphy, the second-in-command aboard the American merchant ship seized by pirates, lashed out at Rush Limbaugh for the talk show host's racial characterization in discussing the rescue of the ship's captain by the Navy.
In commenting on the rescue of Capt. Richard Phillips by the Navy Seals who shot and killed the three Somali pirates who were holding him captive, Limbaugh generated controversy when he called the pirates "black teenagers."
"There you have it, three teenagers shot on the high seas at the order of President Obama," said Limbaugh according to a transcript of an April 14 broadcast on his Web site.
"Just imagine the hue and cry had a Republican president ordered the shooting of black teenagers on the high seas," Limbaugh said.
Murphy said Limbaugh's remarks were unacceptable.
"It feels great to be home," Murphy said. "With the exception of Rush Limbaugh who is trying to make this into a race issue. It's disgusting."
"The president did the right thing. It's a war. It's about good versus evil. And what you (Limbaugh) said is evil, that is hate speech. I won't tolerate it," Murphy said.

Exactly! and it was hilarious. Funny how some can get the 'irony' of a Jon Stewart or Colbert but totally miss it on Rush.
Why! The mishandling falls on Zer0. Rush is a private citizen. He has no power over these issues.

I hate the concept of “hate” crimes - just more socialist thought police. The people who puish this have no intellectual capacity to understand what it is - an attack on free speech/thought....or they are just pure evil.

Pink teenagers?
I can't say for certain about DNC payments, but this little ingrate was on his soapbox way before this "Rush" statement. He was the one on the Nairobi dock, looking for a camera and microphone to spew into just after the Maersk Alabama tied up. When this Maersk Alabama episode first began, I remember reading reports of Captain Shane Murphy and statements from his father. Murphy may have a master's license but he was just the Chief Mate on this voyage. Probably another Frank/Kennedy lover from Massachusetts. Look for this guy to look for a book deal on the piracy, while Phillips take care of his job and his family.
How American is this, an anti-first amendment twerp is ushered onto a stage of millions just so those millions will hear the jackass's hate speech? This purely and simply the giant, roving eye of the media finally finding someone among Whoville who actually supports the politicized media agenda of shutting down Limbaugh.

Joseph Murphy, a professor at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, said his son, second-in-command Capt. Shane Murphy, was a 2001 Massachusetts Maritime Academy graduate who recently talked to a class about the dangers of piracy.
The younger Murphy wrote on his Facebook profile that he worked in waters between Oman and Kenya.
“These waters are infested with pirates that highjack (sic) ships daily,” Murphy wrote on the page, which features a photograph of him. “I feel like it’s only a matter of time before my number gets called.”
