Republican gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie made a brief campaign appearance today in Sussex County to pick up the endorsement of county GOP elected officials and leaders.
"They do it the right way here. They keep taxes at a reasonable level and actually reduce spending in the budget," Christie said at a ceremony in front of the historic county courthouse in downtown Newton.
Christie's remarks were followed by brief speeches made by the county's five Republican freeholders in a show of unity for the former U.S. attorney.
Sussex County Freeholder Harold "Hal" Wirths said he was supporting the former Morris County freeholder because Christie would continue to be tough on political corruption in the state.

Except for his record as a prosecutor Christie has no record to speak of.
A good friend of mine was at a pro life dinner last weekend and all were shocked when Christie showed up as a pro life candidate.
I guess we dont really know where he stands on the issue as he would appear to be doing the expedient thing.
If he's doing the expedient thing, then I say we know EXACTLY where he stands.
My family is voting for Lonegan in the primary, but if Christie wins we’re going to support him.
My family is voting Lonegan. Should he beat Christie in the primary, I think he’d mop the floor with Corzine in the debates. The guy walks the talk, the last thing NJ needs is another RINO like Whitman.
And I agree with you and the other posters that Corzine is a dead man walking. Lonegan can not only beat him, HE IS THE ONLY REPUBLICAN WHO CAN!.
Why?
Because Lonegan, and the people around him are tough enough to go after Corzine where it hurts. The friggin RINO's in this State LOVE GOVERNMENT SPENDING. It is the trough for these pigs. Christie wont challenge that because he is part of the same pig network. His only solution to to make the pigs more law biding. While Lonegan wants to starve the pigs.
Additionally Corzine is part of the corrupt Wall Street gang that is raping this country. I heard on Kudlow last night serious discussion of Paulson being indicted and going to jail because of the BoA debacle. Corzine is part of that corruption and Lonegan has the balls to bring it up....and Christy wont because he is a RINO and Bushy!
Christie has no problem going to the dance with pro-2A and pro-lifers, but he has no intention of taking them home.
