As longtime readers know, in the past several years, I've gotten a lot of death threats, ALL of them from Muslim residents of the United States a/k/a the "moderate" ones. Three of the four have been prosecuted, but the Justice Department refuses to pursue the most scary and frequent of the death threat perpetrators (Lola Elzein, who contacted me six times with escalating threats of rape, torture, and death to myself and my family members).
But yesterday, I got a not-so-veiled threat from a man named Chad Castagana, who is on the right . . . the far, far, nutty right. He was, in the past, an alleged frequent commenter on Free Republic under a fake name (not to say Freepers are like him, most are not), and he has a far-right blog.

Ditto...Castagna, can’t stand ya..
I agree with you. However, as I remarked in an earlier post, when I came here in '99 it was infested with anti-Semites, some of whom used the names of actual Nazis as their screen name. Then there was "The King of Ithaca," A+Bert, Skunk, Jericho, Larry_Lied, Okiereddust, Gecko, and that despicable, nasty b---- who called herself Tex-Oma (some sort of "freethinker," I believe). And as I also said, while the situation improved after 9/11, many of them hung on for years afterwards.
Certainly less than at liberal places like Digg and DU where anti-semite positions are the norm.
I agree most vehemently.
Others claim that he was a prolific poster to the right-wing Free Republic message board under the pseudonym marc costanzo. [1]
That is one screen name I do not recall.
Whew! good think the names I use are real. Not like "revolving cat". Just who do you know is named "revolving cat?" Now "Nathan Zachary" those are real names, although its the name of a fictional person who fights pirates.

Sounds like a real loser/nutcase. Definitely had an obsession with mailing powder-filled envelopes.
It looks like he was a member from Feb 23-Nov 12, 2006.
I don’t agree with a number of Pat’s foreign policy comments. I haven’t followed him lately. Some of his anti-Bush comments during the first administration particularly, rubbed me the wrong way. Not that Bush wasn’t vulnerable for a good chastising at times, Buchanan just wasn’t picking the right fights and making sound enough arguments. I thought he trod off into some pretty strange territory around then if I’m being honest.
Since we’re on this topic, if you wouldn’t mind, why not link us to some recent comments of Buchanan, so we can touch on something that we should. If he has gone over the edge, I’m not going to defend him for it, and we should be made aware of it.
I recall there was a big controversy when someone dug up some old posts on one of the WN groups on how to infiltrate here and spread posts to try to recruit.. most of them where quickly caught and banned, then they all go over to other peanut gallery sites whining that FR gets rid of true Conservatives.. lol..
“No, he posted under his actual name in 2006. Made all of five posts. Lasted all of 17 minutes and 8 seconds before a mod dropped the boom on him. I guess it would be asking too much for Debbie to contact Jim or a mod to get the specifics.”
I would think it would be worth affirmatively providing this information to Debbie.
And posting when, and how, the information was provided.
You know, to give her an opportunity to correct herself.
Debbie Schlussel has been a nutty troll for some time now. I don’t get why some supposedly Conservatives like her ranting.
Her hatefilled vitriol against the Palins for example are no different from... say Garofalo, Maher or Olbermann:

“If you think that Pat Buchanan is not a Jew hater these days, you have not been paying attention to him lately. He may not have been an anti-semite 20-30 years ago, but he has gone off the deep end lately.”
Given that his last book more-or-less blamed WWII and the Shoa on Churchill and disagreeable Jews, I think you are correct.
He could have had other retread aliases. But FR banned him here immediately for even joking about sending powder in envelopes.
I once saw an interesting thread on a defunct forum for "true conservatves." They were gabbing about how the "aryan mind" can "comprehend infinity." Then when some Bible-thumper (a term of affection on my part) apparently showed up they told him "if you want to study the mysteries of the universe look into the night sky, but don't look in a book."
That last line sounds like some of our atheist FReepers, doesn't it?

As an aside, I’ve tried to post on Digg several times, each time getting banned. No profanity, nothing against any policy. Get a consistent run around as to the reason, last time some completely made-up reason.
The only common denominator is I posted pro-Israel comments, which apparently resulted in hundreds of complaints by muslims and their fellow anti-semites on the left.
The guys logic seems pretty sound.
Maybe it’s the guy who was here for 17 minutes, but “avid” poster?
A guy who shows up and gets banned?
By that standard, I’m an “avid” poster on the Democratic Underground.
I think that he was also marc constanzo...here from Feb-Nov of ‘06 as far as I can see.
He was later convicted on 14 felony counts.[3] Chad Castagana was sentenced to five years probation and remandment to the Gateways Community Corrections Center in Los Angeles, CA where he is to receive psychiatric treatment and medication.
Schussel ought to track down his probation officer.

Forget what I said about Buchanan being different 20-30 years ago. I was just thinking of his columns on the Soviet Union that I read in the 1980’s when I started getting interested in politics. He has always been a flaming Jew hater.
In his 04/14/09 column, Buchanan complains about how the Nazi war criminal, John Demjanjuk, has been ordered deported to Germany to stand trial as an accessory to the murder of 29,000 Jews at the Sobibor concentration camp in Poland. How many men in history have been so relentlessly pursued and remorselessly persecuted?. Buchanan has made it is life’s work for some reason to defend Demjanjuk.
In just one search, I came up with older examples of his rabid Jew hatred. There are a lot more where those came from but I am being brief.
Buchanan referred to Capitol Hill as “Israeli-occupied territory.” (St. Louis Post Dispatch, 10/20/90)
During the Gulf crisis: “There are only two groups that are beating the drums for war in the Middle East — the Israeli defense ministry and its ‘amen corner’ in the United States.” (McLaughlin Group, 8/26/90)
In a 1977 column, Buchanan said that despite Hitler’s anti-Semitic and genocidal tendencies, he was “an individual of great courage.... Hitler’s success was not based on his extraordinary gifts alone. His genius was an intuitive sense of the mushiness, the character flaws, the weakness masquerading as morality that was in the hearts of the statesmen who stood in his path.” (Guardian, 1/14/92)
Writing of “group fantasies of martyrdom,” Buchanan challenged the historical record that thousands of Jews were gassed to death by diesel exhaust at Treblinka: “Diesel engines do not emit enough carbon monoxide to kill anybody.” (New Republic, 10/22/90)
Buchanan’s columns have run in the Liberty Lobby’s Spotlight, the German-American National PAC newsletter and other publications that claim Nazi death camps are a Zionist concoction.
Buchanan called for closing the U.S. Justice Department’s Office of Special Investigations, which prosecuted Nazi war criminals, because it was “running down 70-year-old camp guards.” (New York Times, 4/21/87)
Buchanan was vehement in pushing President Reagan — despite protests — to visit Germany’s Bitburg cemetery, where Nazi SS troops were buried. At a White House meeting, Buchanan reportedly reminded Jewish leaders that they were “Americans first” — and repeatedly scrawled the phrase “Succumbing to the pressure of the Jews” in his notebook. Buchanan was credited with crafting Ronald Reagan’s line that the SS troops buried at Bitburg were “victims just as surely as the victims in the concentration camps.” (New York Times, 5/16/85; New Republic, 1/22/96)
