Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair got it right last week when he noted how easy it is to condemn the enhanced interrogation program "on a bright sunny day in April 2009." Reactions to this former CIA program, which was used against senior al Qaeda suspects in 2002 and 2003, are demonstrating how little President Barack Obama and some Democratic members of Congress understand the dire threats to our nation.
George Tenet, who served as CIA director under Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, believes the enhanced interrogations program saved lives. He told CBS's "60 Minutes" in April 2007: "I know this program alone is worth more than the FBI, the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency put together have been able to tell us."
Last week, Mr. Blair made a similar statement in an internal memo to his staff when he wrote that "[h]igh value information came from interrogations in which those methods were used and provided a deeper understanding of the al Qa'ida organization that was attacking this country."
Yet last week Mr. Obama overruled the advice of his CIA director, Leon Panetta, and four prior CIA directors by releasing the details of the enhanced interrogation program. Former CIA director Michael Hayden has stated clearly that declassifying the memos will make it more difficult for the CIA to defend the nation.
It was not necessary to release details of the enhanced interrogation techniques, because members of Congress from both parties have been fully aware of them since the program began in 2002. We believed it was something that had to be done in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks to keep our nation safe. After many long and contentious debates, Congress repeatedly approved and funded this program on a bipartisan basis

thanks
I think every Republican should announce that they too knew and approved of the interrogations. They should demand that they be part of the show trials and inquest. I’d like to hear them say that they would do it again if any terrorist group attacked us and killed innocent civilians.
Have you got the link to the previous post?...thanks
Nancy Pelosi KNEW....so did DI FEINSTEIN!!
A CIVIL WAR will break out if they try to destroy people who kept us SAFE!!! A FREAKING CIVIL WAR!
Americans ONLY agree on FAIRNESS and this fiasco would NOT BE FAIR!
nope...not in front of me...watching the Market here.
The next tea party was going to be July 4 but we may need to hold a protest a lot sooner than that. Or a nationwide strike or something.
....and how many times have you heard BHO refer to his version of Abe Lincoln?...his version of the Constitution?...his version of America?....it just may be what he wants
Maybe the left wants a war. They tear down all morality, still not satisfied, still attacking daily, it seems a war with the aim of tearing down the country might not be that far fetched.
Congress Knew About the Interrogations (by PETER HOEKSTRA (R-MI))
Hoekstra said this AM on Bennett that the records of most of these congressional briefs were threadbare or non existent. That being the case, you could put Pelosi under oath and she would still deny she knew anything abiout the interrogation briefs.
GREAT POINT!!! He THINKS he is Abe Lincoln.......VERY interesting.
yea, well I hope I’m perfect like you in my next life. LMAO
We can dream.
Great idea and if they had any brains they would. They should stand up and say "We're PROUD we stopped terrorists from killing Americans. We're proud of our country. While terrorists are torturing Americans by cutting off their heads and killing them, our enemies are worried about us pouring water on their face."
LOL...thanks!
.it just may be what he wants”...
I’m sure the powers that be are looking for ANY good reason to fill those camps with government objectors.
I like your approach on that! IOW, step up and dare them to take action instead of the typical cowering in the face of a threat.
Have them show pride in national security matters instead of somehow inadvertantly admitting they did wrong.
