Editorial: Free Speech for Thee but not for me? Miss California and the Gay Thug
Catholic Online ^ | 4/22/09 | Deacon Keith Fournier

Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr. told NBC's "Today," that Miss USA contestants need to be "politically savvy." Questioned about the Christian faith of Carrie Prejean he showed how little tolerance he has for people with differing worldviews saying he did not want her "talking about Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, because that's offensive." There was a word used when I was young which in most dictionaries refers to a cruel “ruffian”. The word was “thug”. In my opinion, Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr. is a gay thug.

As the verbal assault against Carrie has continued, her integrity and character have continued to shine. During that MSNBC interview she was asked how she would respond to the continuing invective from her adversary and said “I can only say that I will be praying for him… I maybe would have given a little bit more detail on what I feel about it and given a bit more explanation, but bottom line, I believe marriage should be between a man and a woman. And he asked me my opinion, and I gave it to him.”

Most disorders list gender confusion as one trait, gender confusion means homosexual.

The more severe the disorder the more likely it will have gender confusion as one of the traits.

I'm all for a high profile vetting of this situation, and am happy to have my side represented by this young woman.

There are contrasts and there are STARK contrasts.

... he did not want her "talking about Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, because that's offensive."

Asking a religious person for her perspective on a religious issue and then getting upset because she gives a religious answer strikes me as a sign of someone with no tolerance for individual rights or values. This is a man who would be thrilled to have a national socialist take asbolute power, as long as it was a Nazi who agreed with his beliefs. The far left liberals of today are pathetic.

I just hate the “gay” label ... the euphemism “gay” conjures up a vision of happy well adjusted harmless people ... most homosexuals are not

My answer to people who ask my opinion of this is: “If you have a problem with her answer, then you have a problem with the First Amendment right to free speech”.

Source? I've always suspected this - many homosexuals seem to be afflicted by other mental disorders.

There were lots of people in 1930’s Germany who got ahead by being “politically savvy.”

Has anyone noticed that in her response she seems to not have an issue with the legalization of homosexual marriage, just that she personally doesn’t agree with it?

That's why I never use that word to describe homosexuals.

I hereby declare Carrie Prejean “Miss USA in Exile” due to the biased, unfair voting that has been revealed. She has been wrongly denied the crown due to her personal religious beliefs. This amounts to illegal discrimination against her. I further call upon the Miss USA pageant to formally apologize to her and declare her the official Miss USA.

If I may add to that --- 'as well as First Amendment right to freedom of religion and freedom of association, and maybe even throw in Fourteenth Amendment equal protection too, just for good measure' :)

Thank You,
MM

That's part of the problem. They don't see marriage as a religious issue. To them, it's just a piece of paper.

But of course free speech isn't for everyone. That's a "bourgeois" concept.

Free speech is the exclusive property of the "thesis" of history so that it can perform its "historic function" and bring about "the fascist dictatorship of the proletariat."

I watched Ms. Prejean on Sean Hannity and was really impressed with her forthrightness and her willingness to stand by and stand with her convictions. Not only is she a beatiful young lady, she is the opposite of the typical blond airhead. I found her bright, intelligent and deeply rooted in her faith and her beliefs. I have a new heroine in my life, along with Gov. Palin and Ann Coulter.

As for Perez Hilton, its question was politically charged and inappropriate for a beauty competition. The question should have been disallowed and he should have been required to ask a sterotypical “world peace” question.

His follow-up YouTube gay hissy fit in which he referred to her with the “B-word” (that we typically reserve for HitLIARY and Queen 9% Nancy Pelousy) should have provided the sponsors sufficient justification to throw the question AND Perez “Light-in-the Loafers” Hilton out of the competition. It was just over the top.

Normally, I pay no attention to this kind of nonsense but, the issue surrounding the gay marriage question was beyond the pale. Whatever God has planned for her, I wish Ms. Prejean the very best. With ladies like her, America has a very bright future.
