If you need your patriotic batteries recharged, your faith renewed, and your vision rekindled, watch these two videos:
Later on, Newt Gingrich and the 1994 Republican Revolution successfully carried the ball downfield in advancing the conservative policies through the Contract With America.
If you're looking for someone to blame for the GOP losing in 2006 and 2008, just connect the dots. Bush43 and the GOP abandoned conservatism, giving the Democrats the opportunity to take back power.
And, if you want to quit the battle and leave the USA, all I can say is, adios.
New tagline...
Give me Reagan over Goldwater anyday of the week.
Ronald Reagan
There’s the crux though — we have.
Not everybody.
Remember too that RR gave us Sandra Day O’Connor, Anthony Kennedy, and the King Holiday, all of which empowered the left.
Blame?!
Are you kidding?!
The point Im making is that it doesn’t matter how far RR or anyone else “pushed the ball”. Look where we are NOW.
Look, I idolized RR and I still look back fondly on him, but the fact is that in the long run he couldn’t make the changes needed to ensure our freedom and keep the marxists from power. Thats not his fault. Its ours...
Marxists now infest the corrupted institutions of federal and state governments. They teach our children and read our news, They make the movies and the tv shows. The infrastructure of the marxist PR and indoctrination machine is INGRAINED into our society. Every day that goes by we lose more freedom and add another link to the chain. Just ask yourself how these people came to power...
Even if another “savior” came along in the form of RR II and revitalized “conservatism” in the USA... Do you think he would be able to get rid of the NEA? the income tax? all the entitlement programs? Do you think he can permanently convert the marxists our schools and universities have been pumping out? Think he can convert the most pervasive propaganda machine man has ever known into something benign? How about all the laws and regulations that are clearly unconstitutional? Think he can get rid of those?
RR couldnt... The infrastructure does NOT exist to make this happen. Therefore we need to build the infrastructure to make this happen. Only problem is, we need to remove ourselves from their influence to do that.
Im not sure you fully understand the seriousness of the situation. Im almost positive that you have no idea what these marxists are in the process of doing. You need to get up to speed, this isn’t politics as usual this is a for real coup. These people are actively changing the fundamentals of this nation into something resembling a marxist society.
You claim I want to quit the battle...
I say your unwilling to join it... Its not a battle for the USA, its a battle for our freedom.
Most excellent.
The question we should be asking is, How do we make Reagan’s words, and indeed liberty, relevant to the rank-and-file who live here, especially the Empty Suit voters. Even more so the younger crowd, to whom Reagan exists in history books.
Everyone who is not content with the path our country is on should watch and Listen to these wonderful words of truth and wisdom.
God Bless You President Reagan!
No, I'm dead serious. Your words spoke for themselves. They were hollow and lacking in any real specifics. Clearly an attempt to lay blame on Reagan for not completely eliminating the enemy. Which any rational conservative knows was impossible. Especially without control of the House.
I responded by pointing out the successes that we conservatives had with Reagan and later on, with Newt Gingrich. The right leadership is critical to any successful endeavor. And I told you where the real blame lies, with Bush43 and a GOP Congress, for their abandonment of conservatism.
The options you offered to solve the problem were also hollow. Then you come back with a diatribe not based on any factual content. Just a rant that offers opinions based on irrational assumptions.
>>>>>Im not sure you fully understand the seriousness of the situation. Im almost positive that you have no idea what these marxists are in the process of doing.
Obviously, you don't know me and you haven't read my posts/threads on FR for the last 9-1/2 years. If you did, you wouldn't be making such dumb remarks. In fact, you should stop jumping to conclusions, period. Makes you look foolish.
>>>>>I say your unwilling to join it...
And I say, stick it in your ear. I've been battling liberalism for 40+ years, bucko. Been on the front lines and behind the lines and I don't need to hear your whiny words of wisdom.
>>>>>The point Im making is that it doesnt matter how far RR or anyone else pushed the ball. Look where we are NOW.
It does make a difference. A huge difference. Reagan and Gingrich gave us the blueprint to conservative victory. You can't abandon that blueprint in favor of more moderate-liberal policies and expect the rightwing to continue to be loyal followers. If that continues, one day America just might have a real "Conservative Party".
Right now conservatism and the GOP lack leadership. Finding the right leadership will not be easy. I am one person, with one vote, but there are many more who stand with me. We saw with the Tea Parties that grassroots opposition to Obama and the Dems is alive and well. Hopefully things will start turning around and we won't need to spend another 40 years wandering in the wilderness.
You want to preach to the choir, fine. Just don't condemn other voices in the process.
>>”No, I’m dead serious. Your words spoke for themselves. They were hollow and lacking in any real specifics. Clearly an attempt to lay blame on Reagan for not completely eliminating the enemy. Which any rational conservative knows was impossible. Especially without control of the House.”
Again... Sir... I lay no blame... I simply point out the facts as they exist. The marxist “ideology” cannot be defeated through the use of a system that was designed by honorable men for use by honorable men. That is where you come up short. That is where you lack understanding of the enemy.
The fact remains, to win this “battle” we are going to have to remove those things that are important to us from the influence of the marxists. Things like our lives, families, property, freedom and the constitution.
Take a look at some of the other nations who had marxists rise to power. You’ll see a similarity of word and deed. You think it cant happen here? Hide and watch, because it IS happening here. Huff and puff all you want, it wont change anything.
LOL I fully understand the Constitution and the enemy, the liberal establishment. From your replies sounds like you've given up and favor some sort of armed revolution. Good luck with that.
Tell ya what. I'll keep coming to Free Republic and speaking out on relevant issues, while I work to advance conservatism and hope the GOP can get its s**t together enough to mount a sustained political campaign in 2010 and 2012.
I'm no mind reader, so I can't predict future outcomes. Things are bleak today for conservatives and we're in dire straits when it comes to sound leadership. I remain optimistic about America's future, however.
Just because you've given up, doesn't mean we all have.
>>> “...From your replies sounds like you’ve given up and favor some sort of armed revolution. Good luck with that.”
On the contrary... try reading some of my previous posts. However, I do think that the road YOUR traveling will lead to that, simply because it will be too late for anything else.
Heh... “given up”
When your beating a dead horse you need to stop. When your strategery continually ends in defeat or stalemate you need to stop and evaluate your position.
The BEST you can EVER hope to achieve is a status quo. You will NEVER be able to “turn back the clock” on the socialism that has already corrupted this union. There are millions of entitlement junkies who will guarantee that, and their numbers grow EVERY DAY! You and the GOP act as the ratchet that locks in the socialist gains, even when there is a “so called” conservative “contract with America” NOTHING of any significance happens.
You dont need to be a mind reader to see what is going on. You simply have to be willing to see it for what it is. Then you have to be willing to provide for it.
A growing percentage of the population are fed up with this form of slavery we exist under. We want REAL freedom and liberty as the founders intended. You and the GOP cannot and will not be able to provide that. So, on the edge of a marxist takeover of this nations institutions, we will reject the tired policies and tactics of your FAILED 40 year “struggle”. Nothing personal, and your welcome aboard if you want to help, but its time for the states and teh people (at least some of them) to assert their sovereignty in a meaningful way and set themselves against this corrupt federal government.
“Honor, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them if we basely entail hereditary bondage on them.”
—Thomas Jefferson, 6 July 1775
“But what do we mean by the American Revolution? Do we mean the American war? The Revolution was effected before the war commenced. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments, of their duties and obligations... This radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections of the people was the real American Revolution.”
—John Adams, letter to H. Niles, 13 February 1818
Thanks for the ping, and indeed I did. I have not forgotten you, btw, in regard to our conversation.. still composing... got distracted :P
No problem. It was a great conversation. I hope that we have many more!
So far, you've done a lot of bitching and complaining and little else. As I told you, preaching to choir is fine. However, pointing out the obvious doesn't make you a political seer with special insight into the problems America faces today.
Free Republic is the best conservative forum around and gives rightwing activists and advocates, and political junkies the best open outlet to express themselves in a debate/discussion format on the issues. FReepers do it all the time.
You've been here since 2000, yet you've started very few debates. By my count, you've posted a grand total of 18 threads in 8-1/2 years as a member of this forum. That indicates you aren't interested in debating issues. Rather, you're more interested in whining and venting your frustration. Well, I feel your pain. LOL
>>>>>Nothing personal, and your welcome aboard if you want to help... to assert ... sovereignty in a meaningful way and set themselves against this corrupt federal government.
What condescending BS. In America, the way you oppose a corrupt federal government, is to get your side elected to office and get your ideas turned into legislation. Either you engage in civil discourse, or you mount a revolt. The latter seems to be your chosen method, not mine. Crying about how mean and nasty the world is, solves nothing and serves no good purpose.
If you don't like the GOP, okay. Find a political party that suits you. Then work to get your candidates elected. Otherwise, you can continue being an angry malcontent.
