HAVANA Fidel Castro said Tuesday that President Barack Obama "misinterpreted" his brother Raul's sentiments toward the United States and bristled at any suggestion Cuba should free political prisoners or reduce official fees on money sent to the island from the U.S.
Obama responded at the Summit of the Americas by saying Washington seeks a new beginning with Cuba, but he also said Sunday that Cuba should release some political prisoners and reduce official taxes on remittances from the U.S. as a sign of good will.
That appeared to enrage Fidel Castro, 82, who wrote in an essay posted on a government Web site that Obama "without a doubt misinterpreted Raul's declarations."
The former president appeared to be throwing a dose of cold water on growing expectations for improved bilateral relations suggesting Obama had no right to dare suggest that Cuba make even small concessions. He also seemed to suggest too much was being made of Raul's comments about discussing "everything" with U.S. authorities.

Cuba does not want to have diplomatic relations with America, because if they did they wouldnt have anyone to blame.
..what's new? Obama misinterprets his own words
Is 0 really so clueless as to think he can “reason” with Fidel?
Perhaps this time it just won't work out.. who'd a thunk it. Fidel coming to our rescue.
Fidel pokes a stick in O’s eye.
I just read that Castro assesses a large tax on all money sent to Cuba from America; so Obama’s order to allow more money to be transferred to Cuba is fueling Castro’s oppresive regime.
Geez, these people are owning him all over the world.
What Fidel is saying, in effect, is that you cannot trust a communist.
BO, being so close in his idealogy TO that philosophy, cannot see that truth.
It appears that Obama’s ear to ear grin at the world’s dictators is making him out to be a whimp to them.
You nailed it.
LOL, Obama bitch slapped by an old man who has been dead for at least 3 years. Gotta love it.
As much as I hate it for America, as with Reagan after Carter our esteem will return, but for now I revel in every smackdown Obama recieves from leaders who would lick our shoes if we let them.
No Communist like an old Communist.
Maybe if Hussien went to Havana and bowed to Fidel it would make him feel better? But not to worry, whatever the demands are from Cuba, Obama will come crawling their way to meet them.
It's deja vu all over again.
obama gets schooled again in international relations with dictators...what a shock. ;-/
This past week apparently confirmed to all our southern neighbors that Obama is the Charlie Brown to Lucy.
Yes, there is no limit to Ibn al’Zero’s cluelessness.
The Zero grovels and bows, and the world’s thug dictators laugh in his face and call him a liar. Wow. We are really improving our standing in the world.
Well! That didn’t take long....obviously Fidel saw the treatment Obama got from Hugo Chavez and figured that he had to do something to shut down all of this good will that was supposedly brewing.
This is why we should do nothing to change the status quo with Cuba until Fidel Castro finally assumes room temperature. There is no bargain that can be made with that old bastard that anyone can trust, most longtime Cuba watchers know that, and since Obama insists on launching into these ill advised moves against all good advice to the contrary, he deserves to be personally embarrassed and chastised by Castro and Chavez.
The problem is that the Country’s reputation and security take a hit when the President causes things like this, and Obama has obviously missed that memo. This isn’t an enormous problem today, but it will foment bigger problems down the road.
The major Obama SNAFUs are mounting...
