The co-founder of a group dedicated to fighting illegal immigration plans to challenge former GOP presidential nominee John McCain for his Senate seat in the Republican primary. Chris Simcox is expected to announce his candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat from Arizona Wednesday along the Arizona-Mexico border, FOX News learned. Simcox is the co-founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, a group devoted to border security. On Tuesday he resigned as president of the group in anticipation of his run for Senate. "John McCain has failed miserably in his duty to secure this nation's borders and protect the people of Arizona from the escalating violence and lawlessness," Simcox said in a written statement. "He has fought real efforts over the years at every turn, opting to hold our nation's border security hostage to his amnesty schemes. Coupled with his votes for reckless bailout spending and big government solutions to our nation's problems, John McCain is out of touch with everyday Arizonans. Enough is enough." McCain is a popular target for illegal immigration foes for his support of reform legislation they say amounted to amnesty for some illegal immigrants.

It sure would be fun to have him in the Senate.
That Rino in the Senate is responsible for Obama!
Any other Republican -- especially Romney or Guiliani -- could've beaten the "Messiah."
Excellent news.
Simcox might even outlive McCain to the election.
What would a President Simcox be like?
A possible unintended consequence of this could be to force Juan to the right on any upcoming Senate action on new “immigration reform” bills.
Having said that, Chris will get some $$ from me.
He’s not the only one either, I signed for another person to run against McCain at the Tea Party. :)
Well. we send good men to the apple barrel of Washington and they all start to rot sooner or later!
President Simcox? I’ll take him over what we’ve got.
McCain: lukewarm city. How do you manage to mess up a firebrand like Sarah Palin anyhow?
“To the right” might simply mean that the legitimized illegal alien masses don’t go straight to citizenship, but have to spend some time in a permanent resident limbo.
Excellent news................for McCain!
It would seem that the less time spent in the apple barrel the better, except for pre-rotten specimens like Obama!
If you mean, might knock some sense into him, that’s possible.
I’m all for Simcox, but has el-RINO actually signaled yet that he’s going to run for re-election?
I’d expect McCain to “wait and see.”
I mean this lightweight, rookie with no name ID will get buried by McCain in the primary.
Then we get 6 more years of the old RINO!
This is a disaster.
What is the alternative? Or what would you suggest to conservative Republicans?
Sarah Palin?
See my signature line.
Be sure and look at Jim Deakin, too. I met him at a gun show in Tucson and then again at the Tucson Tea Party. www.jimdeakin.com
