GE Annual Shareholders Meeting Wednesday in Orlando
Free Enterprise ^ | April 21, 2009 | Andrea Shea King

GE's annual shareholder meeting will be held tomorrow (Weds) in Orlando. Caller on Glenn Beck show urges folks to sign letter to Jeffrey Immelt. Go to: http://GE.SignOurLetter.com to add your name to the letter (which I've reproduced below).

Jeffery Immelt Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer General Electric Company 3135 Easton Turnpike Fairfield, CT 06828 Dear Mr. Immelt,

We surround you.

I’m writing you to express my deep concern that under your leadership, GE’s business practices are undermining the principles of our free society.

I’m outraged that GE sold infrastructure equipment to Iran – a country that is a recognized state sponsor of terror. Moreover, I’m appalled you defended your business dealings with Iran by saying “The issue of whether to conduct business in certain countries is complex; we must take into account not only the views of the U.S. Government but all relevant stakeholders.”

It’s reckless for you to place your short-term business interest ahead of our national security.

I’m troubled by your use of GE’s considerable lobbying resources to expand the growth and influence of government over my life. Specifically, GE is supporting so-called cap-and-trade legislation that would increase energy prices, increase job losses and result in slower economic growth. In addition, the legislation would lead to a massive government bureaucracy and loss of individual freedom.

I’m concerned that you are using GE’s media empire to manipulate public opinion. NBC News and MSNBC are slanted to favor the left-wing political agenda and network programming is skewed to promote - without attribution - GE’s “green” business goals.

As a supporter of the 9-12 Project and the Tax Day Tea Party rallies, I’m motivated to take action to promote the values and principles on which our country was founded.

Accordingly, I’m encouraging you to never trade with enemies of the U.S., to stop lobbying for cap-and-trade legislation and to bring fairness and balance to your media empire.

I’m putting you and your board of directors on notice that your decisions are inconsistent with my values and to inform you that as one of thousands of liberty loving citizens – we surround you.

Sincerely,

My company refuses to specify GE industrial automation equipment except when requested by the client as a sole source. How much of GE’s profitability is being diverted to money losing media divisions that are nothing more than shills for the Democratic Party? When MSNBC (owned by GE!) spouts Marxist drivel and declares anyone not in the Obama camp to be a stupid racist, they are insulting a client. I prefer to recommend Rockwell Automation (a.k.a. Allen Bradley) to clients, a company with good conservative values (and a better product and better customer service as well).

I work in oil & gas, and we use Allen Bradley as the standard against which we compare all bidders’ products.

Sometimes we have to go with GE for various reasons, but from a business perspective, we try to avoid doing so just because they’re so big they could care less about satisfying the customer.

I cannot go, but I wish the word had gone out earlier so people could protest this schmuck during their shareholders meeting.

Real Americans need to dump this stock! I sent letters out to the mutual funds I own, but that will never get them to dump it.

Signed the letter and sent THIS to Immelt via the GE web site.

TO: Jeffrey Immelt

April 21, 2009

My Dear Mr. Immelt,

My late father worked for GE for many years in the Apparatus Service Division out of Cleveland, Ohio (specialized in marine work) and was always proud of his relationship with a grand old American enterprise. You were growing up down there in Cinci at the time and, one could assume, were inculcated with those same traditional values my father developed growing up in Coshocton, Ohio.

My wife and I are long-time GE shareholders and have remained thus through the current tumultuous period.

But we have become concerned, indeed ALARMED, at recent events at GE, the most telling of which is your evident embrace of a man who is clearly hell bent on dragging America into some sort of fascist or socialist nightmare. And make no mistake — that is PRECISELY where he is headed.

My wife and I have both signed the “We Surround You” letter at the Free Enterpriser web site so I shant belabor the points already made therein.

I served in the USAF for four years between ‘62 and ‘66. One day in May of ‘62, I raised my hand and swore an oath to God to “...defend the Constitution of the United States.”

To the best of my knowledge, that oath had on expiration date and is still active.

I would respectfully ask you to reconsider your recent activities vis-a-vis what many out here in fly-over country consider to be aiding and abetting an enemy of that Constitution and the IDEA of America envisioned by the Founding Fathers.

If you do nothing else, pray about that and think about what your continued course of action portends for your kids, your grandkids and, more importantly to me, mine.

GE bigwigs have taken CNBC to the woodshed because they are not pro-Obama enough, while at the same time wanting billions in federal dollars.

They don’t care what you say or the market says anymore, they have “pull”, they have a man in Washington. ATLAS needs to SHRUG
