And if that fails... well, the revolution will need an air force.

AOPA has been fighting this battle for at least 20 years in my memory and probably longer. With the blatant class warfare going on now and the continued pressure from airlines and others who don’t like all those little planes crowding into their airspace they may be able to shut it down finally. It will look more like private aviation in Europe. Hint: There isn’t much except for the very wealthy.

Doesn’t Ford know how queer he looks with that earring? Can’t he take it off just for one commercial?
BTW aviation would be better off if the government got out of it all together.

I’m glad they got Harrison Ford as a spokesman. Not sure about his other politics but on this on Ford would be all over as an avid GA pilot and probably the most famous member of the volunteer Civilian Air Patrol.

It's a good thing that a big Obama supporter comes down on the side of GA. It'll give them pause.
And if you want to talk about class warfare, isn't GA all about the little guy getting to be in on the fun, instead of just the bankers and their buddies?
Obama and his Bolshevik supporters will lose this. Working class people both fly and work at aviation companies. The unions are heavily represented at all the GA companies.
He can rap about building trains but by the time they get through the eminent domain wars for the right of way, he'll be long gone from office and the jobs will be lost.

I’ll disagree with you that Obama will necessarily lose this because the owners of planes are working class little guys. Even if they are don’t you realize how easy it is to vilify anyone with any possession which is beyond the reach of the average Joe? The public looks at GA as private jet owners anyway and even if they were aware of all those single engine owners out there they won’t have as much consideration for them as they have for smokers or SUV owners.

Wait until he learns about “homebuilt airplanes”. He will have to close the “aviation loophole”.

I'd prefer a big obama supporter comes down in favor of LIFE.

Private aviation can do as it pleases, but I for one have grown really tired of tax payers subsiding their hobby. Privatize and sale all the little county air ports.

Hear, hear. Next, let's stop subsidizing the interstate highway system. I'm tired of subsidizing motorists' hobbies, too. And boaters. Boaters are next. Now about those state parks and people who hike as a hobby...

He isn’t against all that, just flying. Wanna bet he is a failed pilot candidate and is pissed and jealous about it? I run into those types every day in my job and he smells of it.

Privatize and sale all the little county air ports We get tired of county bureaucrats not taking care of those airports.
Google "airparks real estate" and watch the avalanche that comes back at you.

My money's on him living near an airport but not being an aviation enthusiast.
A developer bought the land sorrounding our local apt (OQN) a few years ago to build retirement condos. The first few craggly old codgers moved in and instantly wanted airport use restricted to certain days/hours. They rose quite a stink. Fortunately, the publicity they generated only served to warn others about the proximity to the airport, and the development is less than 10% built, 2 years later.
Same thing everywhere. People move to a new place and expect everyone there to change their ways...
