Government is political and government meddling always increases uncertainty. What economic effects does uncertainty have?

Really, the brick and mortars have a taxation without representation problem that should have been address by not taxing businesses at all, but statist/populists cannot get their way without resorting to tricks.

Ironically, the taxless sales on the Internet protect brick and mortars - by limiting government revenues.

If we can keep the Internet tax free the next step will be to pare down the Levianthans on locality at a time.

There is little need for fire/paramedic protection, santitation, water, schools, etc. to be paid out of government collected taxes.

The pain is worth it - you capitalist pig! ;-]

This should pretty much kill all internet sales. As it was, the cost of an internet purchase without tax but after shipping was virtually the same as the price of buying it a brick & mortar store and paying tax. The cost of shipping plus tax will now make sure that all internet sales dry up. Another anti-business stranglehold brought to you by the socialists and the Democratic Congress.

Shipping cost are offset by the tax exemption.

If they do this, it will be the end of Internet commerce.

Same here. When I lost my job awhile back, I started selling stuff online, using it as an online garage sale. Also sold stuff for other people for a small percentage of the selling price. It’s work, but I enjoy it. It frees up my time to help out my kids with babysitting and looking after my elderly father. I’ll stop doing it if this tax thing goes thru.

I agree that it will seriously impact internet sales. The shipping costs make up for no taxes. When that is gone, people will be less likely to see an advantage to buying online.
