MEXICO CITY – An escalating arms race among Mexico's drug cartels casts doubt on whether Mexico or the U.S. can stop the flow of weaponry, despite renewed vows last week from presidents of both countries.

Stockpiles captured by Mexican soldiers show that warring traffickers are now obtaining military-grade weaponry such as grenades, launchers, machine guns, mortars and anti-tank rockets.

President Barack Obama says he will crack down on the smuggling of weapons easily purchased lawfully in the United States and then taken to Mexico, which has strict gun-control laws.

Military-grade weaponry such as grenades, launchers, machine guns, mortars and anti-tank rockets.

These are weapons easily purchased lawfully in the United States and then taken to Mexico?

Lawfully by whom?

let’s see...they can’t cut down on the amount of drugs coming in yet they think they can cut down the number of weapons. DC logic for you.

Wow. It looks like the Mexicans have stopped getting their illegal guns from American Wally-Worlds and are now shopping at Bloomingdale's. /s

Hey, everyone knows you can get heavy machine guns and anti-tank weaponry legally in the US. The Brady campaign told me so!

When guns are outlawed (in Mexico), only criminals will have guns.

I wouldn’t go into Mexico, or many parts of the US, with anything less.

Mexican and U.S. authorities disagree on just what type of gun it was. Federal police coordinator Gen. Rodolfo Cruz maintains it was .50-caliber anti-air craft machine gun. ATF, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said it was an unmodified .50-caliber semiautomatic rifle made by TNW, a U.S. firearms manufacturer.

How convenient.

The agency suspects they came from a Monterrey warehouse where the Gulf cartel had been stockpiling weapons, including South Korean-made K75 fragmentation grenades.

I don't see a US connection much less a gun show connection with this.

Dang, I want some of them. Which gun shop is selling those? Is it in Texas?

Military-grade weaponry such as grenades, launchers, machine guns, mortars and anti-tank rockets.

If these kinds of weapons are coming from the USA, then they are coming from the US military; probably via gang members allowed to be in the service due to our wonderful liberal enlistment policies.

I gays are allowed to openly serve, expect the GLT crowd to have machine guns and anti-tank weapons soon.

Of course the AR/M-16s are positioned in such a way to be sure we can't tell if they're select fire, hence didn't come from the USA civilian (legal) market.

I want first dibs on the 1911s though!

Yep gun control will solve this problem won’t it. Doesn’t everyone in the US owns granade launchers and machine guns?

Yeah, I’m sure they are buying their rocket launchers at gun stores in the USA.

I mean, the ‘rats and the MSM all swear that 90% of the weapons in Mexico come from here....

Maybe Pershing left the 1911s when he was chasing Villa?

Gee, went to the gun store this weekend and did not find any granades or granades launcers, maching guns, anti tank weapons or frankly not any military hardware. Guess they sent it all south already. I did find a Baretta 22 cal auto they perhaps missed in the transfers.
