Obama wins praise at summit but feels heat on Cuba (Our clueless POTUS)

U.S. President Barack Obama won praise on Saturday for reaching out to the Americas at a regional summit but Latin American and Caribbean leaders pressured him to end the long-standing U.S. embargo on Cuba.

Obama, attending his first Summit of the Americas, has promised an era of better cooperation with the hemisphere and offered a new start to communist-ruled Cuba. He won early approval from left-wing Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

The warm reception for Obama from countries from Brazil to Venezuela contrasted with the last Americas Summit four years ago in Argentina, where leftists like Chavez attacked the "imperialist" policies of former President George W. Bush.

"I think we're making progress at the summit," Obama told reporters after his meeting with South American presidents.

At the official summit photograph, Obama was seen chatting and smiling with Chavez and Ecuador's President Rafael Correa, a leftist former finance minister, who has in the past pilloried U.S.-backed free market policies.

We have elected the most clueless moron to the highest office in the land. Obama "chatting and smiling with Chavez and Ecuador's President Rafael Correa" should insult every American.

Chavez called our previous POTUS 'the devil" and has destroyed any semblance of democracy in his country. He has ruined their economy and is impoverishing the masses in his 'utopian' peoples' paradise.

Mr. Correa, the President of Ecuador is not much better and in fact the President should be the one scolding him about what happened to two of our diplomatic staff at the Embassy since Obama took office.............

The dictators of Latin America see a weak, self important, narcissistic buffoon who is ignorant of the dangers our country faces.

The State Department called the expulsion of the second U.S. diplomat from Ecuador in just over a week "unjustified," rejecting charges the diplomats meddled in Ecuador's internal affairs.

Also of interest. What policies designed to maximize harm to American interests is “The Divine One” implementing.

What does it say about the TOTUS, when he appears more comfortable with Hugo Chavez than with an American pro-lifer?

I will second that thought!

NEVER EVER, I will consider a Marxist as my POTUS!

This is why Latin America remains a hopeless case. These long winded gasbag leaders preside over nations that are economic and social basket cases. Yet they spend time, energy, and political capital fretting over the relations the USA has or doesn’t have with a third county. They all have relations with Cuba: a lot of good it has done them. Why do they care about our relations with Cuba, or anyplace else? One would think it would be the last thing on what passes for their minds.

Latin America is a microcosm of what might happen in the US if we let 0 and the rats have their way. I know in the case of Guatemala, where I’m from, all politicians are a bunch of bastard liars. We are left with the choice of picking the best of the worst.

In a sense, that’s what we had this last election, a certifiable rino in McCain (but we would have gotten Palin!) or the socialist 0. Just like in the 70s, we had either Ford or Carter.

What is irritating is 0 trying to make nice to a bunch of pseudo-dictators that are ruining their countries. Starting with that clown Ortega. My hope is that the Tea Party movement continuous and we start cleaning the political system. Get the career politicians out and give the government back to the people. Otherwise the US will turn into a has-been like Europe.

He so wants to think of himself as a world leader, that he doesn’t realize that he is being played like a violin. But is he really?

I didn't see our fearless, brainless leader bow to the left-wing Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez like he did for the Saudi prince. What an idiot!!!!! It's hard to believe 53% of the population of this country voted for that moron.

Absolutely weak, self-important, narcissistic buffoon, but he's well aware of the dangers and is in fact on a mission to make sure they overtake us.

Then he and Castro and Chavez can sit back, smoke cigars and stay in office forever.

It speaks volumes. Stole this from another FReeper earlier and with your reference to TOTUS I thought it appropriate. ;*)

More proof (as if we need it!) that liberals can't remember anything: they want to end the embargo put in place by their own darling, John F. Kennedy!

I am certain that the Castro brothers will step down any day now and allow completely free elections and restore individual rights just because Obam is now their friend (sarcasm)
