Obama to regulate 'pollutant' CO2

The US government is to regulate carbon dioxide emissions, having decided that it and five other greenhouse gases may endanger human health and well-being.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the move following a review of the scientific evidence.

The decision marks a major change from the Bush presidency, when the EPA argued it could not regulate CO2 because the gas was not a pollutant.

Developing countries have asked for the US to show leadership on climate.

Many are not prepared to curtail their own emissions without firm indications that the US is willing to make significant reductions.

Carbon-cutting legislation is being proposed in Congress, but the EPA decision - known as an "endangerment finding" - will allow the agency to mandate some cuts without waiting for the draft bills to become law.

You betcha. Even worse, they essentially told GM this week to completely SHUT DOWN GMC Division because its fleet doesn't meet mileage standards. Obviously GMC cannot meet mileage standards because it makes trucks and SUVs, no cars.

Can you effing believe it? The federal government is instructing a publicly traded corporation to completely shut down an entire division because it makes products the federal government DOESN'T LIKE?? Not only will you have to park your truck, you won't ever be able to again purchase another truck because the government has banned them and ordered an end of their production. Communism is on the march in the U.S.

Beginning?

When I cross swords with friends, relatives and acquaintances that have liberal views and vote for democrats I usually assume that they are misinformed and don't understand the issues completely. For example, my 77 year old mother has been watching CBS evening news for 40+ years and she reads the AARP magazine every month.

I don't think Obama and his fellow travelers are misinformed, I think they know the truth. I fear some of the other replies here are correct, they are out to destroy our economy and society so they can rebuild it to their ideals.
