Sacha Baron Cohen is a fraud, says senior Republican tricked into bedroom (Ron Paul)
Daily Mail ^ | 17th April 2009

After the huge success of Sacha Baron Cohen's films Ali G In Da House and Borat, you'd think people would have wised up to the comedian's disguises.

But it appears not everyone recognises the comedian when he's dressed up as his third alter-ego, gay Austrian fashion reporter Bruno.

Texas congressman Ron Paul, who was a Republican candidate for the 2008 presidential election, was left fuming after he was unwittingly tricked into a hotel room with Cohen's Bruno character.

The right-wing politician was tricked into being a target of seduction by Bruno last summer by posing as an economic reporter.

After Paul briefly appeared in the trailer for Cohen's forthcoming film Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America For The Purpose Of Making Heterosexual Male, he realised he would have to explain himself to voters.

Speaking on America's ABC radio this week, angry Paul condemned Cohen for lying and accused him of 'fraud'.

During an interview with presenter Curtis Sliwa, Paul was asked how he ended up in a hotel room in such a compromising situation.

He said: 'We were in a studio situation, I wasn't invited into a hotel room. There were lots of lights and blaze and commotion and they said we better get in this back room which had been fixed up as a bedroom.

'So there was some dishonesty getting me into the interview, I was expecting an interview on Austrian economics. That didn't turn out that way.

'By the time he (Cohen) started pulling his pants down, I was like what on earth is going on here and I ran out of the room. This interview had ended.'

In what is sure to be hilarious viewing in the upcoming film, Paul is stunned when Bruno starts to disrobe in front of him.

Obviously not Borat which was hillarious. I only saw the dinner table scene that someone had at work and it was funny.

Yes, it was Borat. There was a chuckle or two in there, but nothing that was deserving of this guy being famous for anything. Most of the time, you could see what he was going to do a mile away.

Paul is a generally bright guy who too often has serious lapses in judgments. Falling for Cohen was just the latest.

If L Ron Paul doesn’t have a clue about this guy, good thing he doesn’t deal with world leaders on America’s behalf daily.

Sacha’s a fraud, and Ron Paul’s an idiot.

Lapse of judgments? Perhaps but compare those lapses to some big time politicians, such as Palin, McCain, Cheney, and Jindhal, who have zillions of gatekeepers, and Paul’s a comparatively minor.

I wasn’t comparing, because it’s a meaningless comparison. Palin and Cheney have not had any lapses in judgment that would disqualify them to hold the oval office. McCain is another story and should not be lumped in with them. Paul’s lapses on defense and terror make him unqualfied to be anywhere near the oval office. He is correct on economic matters but in that vein is no more prescient than, say, you or I. Saying the obvious about economic issues makes him correct on those issues, but that doesn’t overcome his blinders on defense matters.

Yeah, right. Let's see Cheney almost kills he buddy during a hunting expedition (and doesn't bother to report to the president until much time after the after the fact). Palin has produced a family that deserves to be have its own soap opera. No lapses there eh? By contrast, Paul has a leave it beaver like family, has been married to the same women for over fifty years, and by all accounts has never almost killed one his friends.

Articles recently written about her utilizing Yoga for both injury prevention, internal peace, greater flexibility etc.

Many high level rinks have Yoga instructors come in and have classes for the skaters as a form of cross training......

I’m no fan of Ron Paul or his ideas, but he has delivered babies and presumably saved lives in his work as a doctor. Whatever you think of his politics, he has tried to deal with important public issues. What has Borat or Bruno or whatever he calls himself really done for the world? Paul didn’t deserve this.

She’s pretty much on her own with a handful of staffers from her PAC. National Republican big wigs and a powerful part of the Alaska GOP are hostile to her... and look at how she has to cope with all the BS “ethics complaints” and legal harrassment. She’s got no machine (yet). Although Steele introducing her in Evansville, and Culvahouse praising her at the RNLA may be signs of a change.

...he was unwittingly tricked into a hotel room...

Suuuuuure...

From the description of events, he was tricked into a portion of a television studio which had been furnished and decorated to look like a hotel room.

I guess this is supposed to be funny, too:

ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) — Alabama National Guard officials say the actor best known as Borat posed as a German journalist and tricked them into giving him a uniform and briefly allowing him to go through training.

The Guard’s public affairs office said Monday that comedian Sacha Baron Cohen and a film crew pulled the stunt in mid-February at the Alabama Military Academy in Anniston, about 65 miles east of Birmingham.

The ruse was going well until a young cadet recognized him and notified officers.

Good on that “young cadet.” That “stunt” should be prosecutable.

Of course he’s a fraud. It’s how he makes his living. That is not news. Ron Paul falling for it is news.
