On Thursday, April 16, in a Council chamber overflowing with students, the Student Council of American River College voted 11-5 to pass a resolution putting the 42,000-student Community College on record as opposing the LGBT National "Day of Silence".
"The passage of this resolution marks new progress for Community Colleges," commented Vladimir Musorivschi. "The 'Day of Silence' project has been used as an opportunity to suspend Christian students at local schools for wearing Bible verses on their shirts. The 'Day of Silence' is truly about silencing the voices of Christian students and we will oppose this censorship."

Silent no more!
Here’s today’s ray of hope......
From California no less.
Does this mean the G & L crowd will shut the f*ck up for a day????
Wow.
Rare items like this one make me wonder if maybe there’s still hope that America can come back from the dead.
The administration will overrule this. Student government is only tolerated if it reinforces the goals of the Left.
Otherwise, their just kids playing with matches to the powers that be.

Holy fecal-eaters, the marketing of deviance is failing? This can’t be, say the writers of filth and promoters of deviance. Let hollywood take charge and show the opposition what bigots and hypocrits look like on TV.
Great news. I guess there is some hope after all in our future generation!
11-5? That’s an encouraging sign. Perhaps the rabid left will finally stop persecuting Christians in this country!
Well, at least it’s wishful thinking on my part.
It’s also pretty disrespectful to the many gay students/faculty/staff and their supporters who do not like this style of activism or believe it’s effective. Plenty of them believe that normal courteous behavior and communication is the best way to dispel negative stereotypes. The “Day of Silence” thing is really a tactic aimed at radicalizing gays and their supporters, by pushing on THEM the notion that they are constantly being “silenced”, even though many don’t really feel like that’s been their experience.
For those who care:
This college sits in the suburbs of Sacramento, just east of downtown. It is near, but not in, the more conservative foothills area. The districts that elected Dan Lungren and Tom McClintock are within a stones throw of the campus.
Good for them!! It is high time colleges and universities took a stand against silencing free speech. I would love to see public schools doing the same!
Doing what your "enemy" wants as a form of protest is about as stupid as it gets. How about a "Year of Silence"?
I know that if I was a college prof, I would schedule an oral exam on the day in question and zero fail students that refused to answer.
I agree. My kids regularly take on liberal teachers and students and have done so since day one. They are completely unshakeable in their beliefs and values because we’ve provided that foundation *at home* since they were born.
As I see it, their counter-arguments and conservative opinions might be the only ones some of their classmates ever hear and they’ve made many actually stop and think instead of just being allowed to parrot what they hear in their liberal homes and media.
As the oldest once said, “You can’t keep us in a bubble forever. These same kinds of people are going to be my coworkers, my neighbors and in every aspect of my life. I have years of experience dealing with them and know how to handle them. If you want to study sharks, you don’t go to Iowa to do it. You go where THEY are.”
You know what was on the school sign over Easter weekend? Nothing but a cross on a hill with the sun rising in the background. No announcements, nothing else. That’s because we conservatives have kept up the fight and made our voices heard.
Before I’m accused of child abuse, neither of my kids smoke, drink, do drugs or engage in premarital sex. It’s not because I’ve quarantined them, it’s because they’ve made those decisions on their own. They’ve also been able to see firsthand how those kinds of decisions affect people’s lives.
