AUSTIN, TX – Texas has seceded from the union. Led by Governor Rick Perry, Texans and frustrated Conservatives are clamoring to Texas to start a new country.

Texas’ state congress held an emergency session on Thursday, and in a 180-1 vote decided to secede from the union.

Originally the Texas Senate opposed the actions of the State Congress, until the Congressmen asked if they would like to “step outside.” After a brief scuffle behind the Capitol building...

Wouldn’t Americans then be part of the group of Illegal Aliens?

Would I still be a wetback if I swam the Red or Sabine Rivers to get into Texas from the north or east?

I thought all the great scientists of 20 years ago decided Cali was going to hav ea massive earthquake and fall into the ocean. Kinda like the geniuses now saying that if we dont stop driving cars and heating our homes the oceans will rise and we will all drown...

As a serious comment to this, imagine what would happen if Texas did it. And they were very very successfull at building not only a sustainable economy, but a profitable one for the citizens there.

They would become the enemy and the cause of all of the problems left in the rest of the old USA. Texas would be the evil empire to them.

Texas would have to set up a military at once, because within 10 years the old country would attack and try to destroy it. The would have to, because a successful Texas would be exposing the lie that their socialist world was built on.

Just my opinion.

“Texas would have to set up a military at once”

Already got one. Might even be tempted to resign my current commission to accept one in the new Republic...

“...set up a holiday on May 2nd”

That should be March 2, Texas Independence Day, when Texans declared themselves to be free from Mexico, while Travis and Crockett were being shelled by the Mexican Army at the Alamo.
The 188 Texan patriots died on March 6, the day that will live in true Texan hearts forever...unless Texas public school education successfully obliterates our history.
March 2, Texas Independence Day, is now “Texas Flag Day” on the public school calendars, so we don’t offend the huge population of Mexican children being educated by our tax dollars. That’s one thing Texans should not be proud of.

I'd join in a heartbeat. And there's a book you need to read that decribes that exact scenario. "FreeHold" - Michael Z Williamson

It would need people like you and a whole lot more. The left could not allow it to succeed, and they would do everything they could to kill it, both from a public opinion and actual military incursions.

They would combine with Mexico to fight Texas. Count on it, so the preparations for defense in both a military and “Hearts and Minds” way would have to start at once.

You know the people who currently proclaim they are “victims” would be easily sold by the MSM that it was all Texas's fault. “It's not their fault, it's the evil Texans who stole all of their money.” The news copy is easy to write. Just replace the targets in the DHS report with Texas, and you have a start.

Scary,

You should mark this as satire and sarcasm.

The title and source do that quite effectively.
