Acknowledging that “an apology is owed,” Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano promised Thursday to “meet and clear the air” with veterans groups that were offended by her agency’s report citing “returning veterans” as terrorist risks to the U.S.
“To the extent veterans read it as an accusation,” Napolitano told FOX News, “an apology is owed.”
“I’ll meet with the leaders of some of the veterans groups,” she promised on “FOX & Friends.” “The last thing we want to do is offend or castigate all veterans. To the contrary, let’s meet and clear the air.”
Napolitano said she was briefed on the report, including the warning about returning veterans, before it was released.

“I have to tell you, I was the United States Attorney for Arizona in the 90’s when Tim McVeigh bombed the Murrow building in Oklahoma City and unfortunately he was a vet — that’s where he got his training,” she said. “And so when I was told about the report, it rang true with me. I found out from reading the Memorial Wall several weeks after she passed myself. It’s just over a year now — she passed away on April 6, 2008.

She was a WONDERFUL woman, and a great Patriot — not to mention an EXCELLENT researcher. I still miss her even though I didn’t know her very well... I’m sure she’d have some VERY interesting comments on this thread... :)
NO apology is good enough. Simply because she meant what she did and said in the document. Any sort of apology would be fabricated BS to pacify the outrage. Then it would be back to business as before, get the opposition. The only change would/will be they will be more circumspect. Less of a frontal assault. But they are still coming after us.

As a Catholic, right to life, retired military person who supports the 2nd amendment,,nothing she says will make an impression on me. She has to go. Frankly, the sooner the birth certificate issue is solved we can go about cleaning house in congress as well as the WH.
Really, isn't it just a bit of a rightwing overreaction to think that a domestic national security agency or apparatus of the US Federal Government, under a Liberal Democrat Administration, would necessarily go overboard and/or deny people liberty on our own soil? C'mon gimme a break!

You should have asked to speak to a supervisor. After all the security of the Homeland (for Obama that would be Kenya) is at stake and people like us are an apparent threat to it.

She would have made Arizona a sanctuary state and banned any legal activities against illegals, which would have had the same result except for us paying for everything. If she gave Arizona to Mexico, the Mexican goverment would have had to pay for its returned again citizens.
