Yes. I wouldn’t think any serious Protestant would have been pleased, when he never even mentioned the word “Jesus” once in his talk, but quoted the Sermon on the Mount with the suggestion that building upon a foundation of rock instead of sand meant letting the government handle it.

In my view (I’m of no particular religion but a Christian studying to be Catholic) if Obama is a Christian, as he professes to be, then he is an abominable example badly in need of repentance. No serious Christian could countenance his stance on abortion, for example. It is just plain evil. God could surely never condone it.

I think he is more likely to be a muslim. The apple does not fall far from the tree that bore it.

Why should I fear the darkest hour,
Or tremble at the tempters power?
When Jesus is my Mighty Tower;
Christ is all, and He is mine.

Tho’ hard the fight, why quit the field;
Why should I shrink, why should I yield;
When Jesus is my Mighty Shield?
Christ is all, and He is mine.

When creature comforts fade and die,
The world may weep, but why should I?
Jesus still lives, and He is nigh.
Christ is all and He is mine.

I know not what may soon betide,
Or how my wants may be supplied;
But Jesus knows and will provide.
Christ is all, and He is mine.

Tho’ faint my prayers, and cold my love,
My steadfast hope shall not remove;
While Jesus intercedes above.
Christ is all, and He is mine.

Against me earth and hell combine,
But on my side is power divine.
In the darkest hour, His glory shines.
Christ is all, and He is mine.

I am a patriot, love my country, and grieve for the things happening to us.
I am thankful that the ancient hymn I quoted above covers just about every event of life.
God’s eternal purpose is not hindered by Obama’s words.
On a human level, I feel sorry for him. There are a lot of things about this man that are broken. It comes out in his coldness, hatred and evil. I sure wouldn’t want to be him.
One day he will know, like us, that life is brief, and power is fleeting. Barack Obama will be a pitiful character like Bill Clinton.
I wish they knew my little hymn.
