Wife and I went to Stuart, Floridas tea party along with about 3000 of my favorite people.
Bunch of radical extremists. Retirees wearing golf hats, veterans wearing their hats, old and young alike.
The city had many cops on the scene though none were needed as everyone behaved very well. Sort of funny watching the guys from the swat team.
Was supposed to be at the post office but it spilled on to US 1 and everyone stayed on the sidewalk.
Most had never been to a protest.

Most had never been to a protest.

That's one of the most telling comments I've read about the tea parties yet. Imagine the attendance if those of us who had to work and couldn't attend could have been there. And no, I've never been to a protest.

Most had never been to a protest.

They asked at ours (Bakersfield, crowd of about 2500) how many had never been to a protest before. Between 2/3 and 3/4 of the crowd raised their hands. Very telling. Definitely grassroots and not like ACORN's paying people to attend.
