I believe that people have determined that a canal (not a very long one) could connect the Mediterranean to the Qatar Depression in Libya. This could be built in such a way that any rise in sea levels would drain off to a very low-lying part of the globe. It would mitigate any conceivable rise in sea level, potentially generate lots of electricity as it passed through the canal, and give Libya a lot of new ocean front property.
It would be a wonderful thing. So I say bring on the rising!
