About 200 people gathered at Center City's Love Park for a midday "tea party" to protest excessive government spending.
The rain-soaked rally is one of dozens being held throughout the country. Protesters held "Don't Tread on Me" flags, banners and signs as they recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang the "Star Spangled Banner."
Then a parade of speakers lit into Washington's lack of fiscal restraint

I was there. Definitely more than 200 people, but the rain kept what should have been a big crowd down.

I agree - it was more than 200 people and 20 signs. Unfortunately, 41 degrees and rainy dampened the turnout. It was a spirited crowd though, and full of ordinary people who are angry with Washington. I didn't see any disrupters, apart perhaps from one man who who seemed more emotional than disruptive. He was loud and intent on sharing his views at the periphery of the gathering.
I saw media representation from the Philadelphia Inquirer, Channel 6 (ABC) and FOX, the latter two conducting interviews with film crews.

Tons more than 20 signs. The article was a joke.
BTW - I was wearing the Phillies rain poncho.

I’d say 400 people, with folks coming in and peeling away during the event, as it was a weekday lunchtime event.
