Global Warming Is 'Very Real for Us,' Palin Says
Associated Press ^ | April 14, 2009 | Kim Murphy

(AP) — ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin acknowledged Tuesday that global warming was harming her state but said stepped-up natural-gas production could mitigate its effects.

Speaking at a hearing before Interior Secretary Ken Salazar -- the third of several he is holding to consider renewed oil and gas leasing on the Outer Continental Shelf -- Palin said that relatively clean-burning natural gas could supplant dirtier fuels and slow the discharge of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

"We Alaskans are living with the changes that you are observing in Washington," she said. "The dramatic decreases in the extent of summer sea ice, increased coastal erosion, melting of permafrost, decrease in alpine glaciers and overall ecosystem changes are very real to us."

The hoax is that humans are somehow causing it and that limiting our CO2 production will "cure" it.

Exactly the hoax to which I was referring.

I watched the whole statement as it happened. She was so playing Salazar. I’ve also heard her on various radio shows in Alaska. She is definitely not a believer in man-made global warming—I’ve heard her say that outright. Everyone knows how Salazar feels about OSD...she was using his own logic/rhetoric against him to make her point and further the pipeline and drilling. Well-played.

Yes AP made up 10 paragraphs of material and mistakingly attributed all of them to Palin. They’re always doing things like that, but we’re too smart for them.

“Are they any American politicians willing to publicly call “global warming” the hoax that it is?”

One, Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK)

You hit the nail on the head. I have read her complete statement on the Gov of Alaska’s website and she is calling Salazar’s bluff in relation to his statement at his confirmation hearing. She is a lot smarter than even some of her supporters give her credit for and this little move she pulled on Salazar had me grinning from ear to ear.

let me parse it closer for you

it will be too late to meet the mitigation goals for reducing (carbon dioxide) that will be required under most credible climate change models,

In straightforward English, she is issuing a warning that we need to reduce carbon dioxide levels because it is impacting our climate -- which is exactly what global warming partisans contend.

Nowhere in that article did she say she believed man caused global warming. EVERY thing she did say seemed to be geared specifically to keep a DC beurocrat from destroying the bulk of Alaska citizens’ lives, and Salazar could and definately would easily do that with a few strokes of his pen. It’d be pretty easy to agree that they get alot of CO2, seeing as they have a volcanic eruption almost every year, let Salazar feel like...whatever, then rush him to the airport before he shuts down the new pipeline and everything else that brings home a paycheck up there.

If LIEberals are really committed to claiming C02 is bad, then they should all hold thier breath for minimal 24 hours to “save the planet”.

LIEberalism kills far more than any of the most toxic substances known to man combined.

If they were interested in facts, they wouldn’t have taken this worshipful attitude towards her in the first place. Hopefully their cult-like adoration will simply wear off before the time comes that we need to get serious about finding a challenger who can make Obama a one-term President.

No, in straightforward English...THEIR energy proposals WON’T work according to the models (which they cling to and cite all the time).

That is language I normally associate with warnings

THEIR energy proposals WON’T work according to the models (which they cling to and cite all the time).

I'm confused. Are you referring to the models which Palin says are credible?

She said the models are credible. Let me know if she comes out and says she was misquoted.

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't watch the hearing but I know that despite all the other great positions Palin holds, ENERGY is her main strength and where she is potentially the most LETHAL threat to the entire liberal platform. Her positions on energy and the oil-rich state she hails from are why the liberals hate her so.

And the MSM will use every trick to distort her views on this whenever they can and delude conservatives as is evidenced on this forum.

Again, thanks for confirming what I strongly suspected about her interaction with Salazar, one of the major reptiles out there.
