This is a classic case of “You get more of what you subsidize.” In this case, lack of affirmative action is the subsidy. Once these pirates start seeing extreme prejudice, this crap will stop. Like I said, countermeasures such as flame throwers sill surely discourage unwanted boarders. Other situations will require different solutions, along with rising expenditures as warranted. These people are after money. When they start reaping death instead, they'll find something else to do.

I don’t like the idea of short range weapons. That puts the crews in range of the pirate’s guns and RPGs. I prefer we use something that doesn’t let these guys get close enough to use those.

I received an email this morning originally posted by a member of the Alabama crew listing many of the lessons learned. It was quite a good read of what they did right and how the whole thing actually played out. But, Sorry Folks, I'm not gonna put all that out there in the public domain. Maybe someday by someone else, but not me and not now. Loose Lips sink ships, and those dead pirates tell no tales.
