I’ve seen this here in L.A. too — some of it is the pre-census workers (ACORN freaks?) doing some early canvassing but without talking to people. I’ve read that this is taking place. Or, it could be worse — who knows? Be prepared!
Oh; you’re probably right. The census thing makes sense. My brother started this job with census today. He said they’re to go through neighborhoods and pre-screen for the actual census — set up database, etc. They use their own cars, etc. OK; I’m relieved.

I today had an white SUV with a guy sitting in it on the phone
Now nothing unusual you say but I live on a road where we get about in a day 5 cars passing, but this one was pulled up a bit near the trees where from my window I could not see it but fortunately I have a camera to the other side of my house for security (I live in a more rural area )
I walked over and this big guy was sitting in the car on the phone.
I asked him if he was lost could I help him and he said he just pulled over to use the phone as he doesn’t like to drive and be on the phone
He then started muttering and said he owns the house further down and I asked which one to which he stumbled again and then said well he doesn’t live there but he rents it.
He then put the window up and carried on talking
I shouted that you looked suspicious and that we do not know if you were lost or some one who is looking to break in etc
He put the window down again and said no that is good you have people looking out around here.
I walked into my house and he drove away fast
I called the police but they couldn’t get him in time
I might not have got his number but you can be sure that the neighbors here now know about it and all are on the lookout .

There is only one way in and out of my neighborhood and it is hard unless they are ready to land by water, walk a mile through woods with rattlesnakes , bear, wild hogs etc and even then that person would sitting there with all sorts of bugs ,
