They would have read that as 6 literal days. That is where I get my belief.

Did the original bible say 6 literal days or is that just man's interpretation?

The Hebrew word used in Genesis 1 is “yom.” This word has two meanings: a 24-hour period or longer periods of time. The word here is translated as a 24 hour period because there is no other indication in the text that it means longer. For example, it means longer periods of time in Psalm 90:4 where it says a day is like a thousand years to the Lord. There is an indication though that it means longer.
