If I'm not just talking out of my behind (and I am by the way, but that doesn't mean I'm dead wrong), this technique might help with the revival of more recently extinct species, such as the moa, the passenger pigeon, the zylacine... Reviving the mammoth?

Not a good idea. I saw a movie once that had mammoths innit what were brought back to life in the modern age.
