The Justice Department could bring charges against a Somali pirate captured in a hostage standoff in the high seas...
A spokesman said that prosecutors are reviewing "evidence and things" according to the Associated Press. By law, prosecutors do have authority to bring charges when a crime is committed against a U.S. citizen or vessel.
President Obama said that "we must continue to work with our partners to prevent future attacks, be prepared to interdict acts of piracy and ensure that those who committ acts of piracy are held accountable for their crimes."
it’s always good to have evidence and things when deciding to file charges or not.
File charges....That’ll learn ‘em....
Well..... we see the mindset of the Obama administration....thanks for posting.
True professionals... things are much more admissable in court than stuff.
Isn’t “Walking the Plank” while still at sea the proper action? Or, does that qualify as waterboarding?
Oh thank you Eric..........Good Lord.
Now we'll find the pirate is "a minor" and can only be held until he turns 21. : (
” things are much more admissable in court than stuff. “
If they were ‘right-wing-extremists’, Holder wouldn’t need no steenkin’ ‘evidence’ — just a bit of ‘things and stuff’....
Yes, they can sieze his card board hut!
What a tool!
So I am wondering when Obambi realized that talking doesn’t always solve all the problems in the world. When did he decide that its time to shoot them?
Too bad the SEALS didn’t take out this scum-bag, too, and save Holder the trouble of making such a “tough decision”.
Perhaps the legal eagles ought to look at the existing laws, precedents, and things on piracy.
(Sink them on sight and hang the survivors.)
It will be reduced to not having his seat belt on in the raft and time served.
"...and so I say to you, press button to continue....er, uh, mmm."
Take the pirate up in a helicopter and drop him in the town square at EYL (pirate village) from 1,000 feet. No further comment necessary!
did the crew of the Bainbridge read this pirate his rights?
Did he ask for an attorney? was a translator provided? did he feel threatened? was sharia law observed? were the pirates given leave to pray 5 times a day, facing mecca?
these are critical human rights issues
Just HANG IN PUBLIC every pirate you catch and the problem will quickly go away!
Eyl, Somalia is a Pirate Village??? They have their own village?
We’re back to treating terrorism as a law enforcement issue.
Let’s see, what’s the over/under on the date of the next 9/11?
And what’s the over/under on the number of Americans killed?
I’m hearing that this Pirate is between the ages of 14 and 16. Anybody hearing the same?
If so trying him here in the USA creates serious problems.
