It's bad for our democracy to exempt half the country.
If you thought Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme was bad, wait until you hear about the inverted pyramid scheme the federal government is working on. While Mr. Madoff preyed on people who trusted him with their money, the federal government has everyone's money, and the implications of its actions are worse.
Picture an upside-down pyramid with its narrow tip at the bottom and its base on top. The only way the pyramid can stand is by spinning fast enough or by having a wide enough tip so it won't fall down. The federal version of this spinning top is the tax code; the government collects its money almost entirely from the people at the narrow tip and then gives it to the people at the wider side. So long as the pyramid spins, the system can work. If it slows down enough, it falls.
It's also what's called redistribution of income, and it is getting out of hand.

Nothing is “free” in a capitalistic system.
Everyone should pay something, because they are utilizing the government's services. I don't care if it's $.01 or $1.
Well, actually, I think that everyone should quit paying their taxes this year and next year — until Obama’s government falls, and we vote in a new government. Then we can start paying taxes again to the new government that we vote in....
Yesssssss!
:-)
I wouldn't mind paying taxes if I could choose where my share could be used. That way I wouldn't be forced to support abortions or stem cell stuff or other asinine project.
IOW, let the tax payers choose where their money should be spent. I bet it would be an eye opener to the government.
And that’s precisely why they won’t let you do it... :-)
WRONG! It's none of the little Brown Shirts in governments business how much any of us make. The passage of an "income tax" was the first major step to tyranny in this country. Property taxes are possibly even worse. YOU SLAVES OWN NOTHING! You merely rent your lives from the control freaks in charge. Sales taxes on new goods and tariffs on foreign goods should be the only way a legitimate government should be able to fund itself.
NO ONE should be paying 'income' taxes. This country got along just fine for 150 years without one.

And here’s an article from the New York Times all the way back from 2004:
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/13/politics/campaign/13tax.html
Well, then..., I guess you’re all set for the tax protest.... :-)
I hope i have made myself clear.
Nothing wrong with having a debate over a federal income tax or a national sales tax.
You are clear, and I agree. :-)
Not only did the IRS remove people from income tax rolls, it gave them money that they hadn't even earned in the first place!!!
Now not only do millions of Americans get this money, even illegal aliens who file taxes (presumably under false SS nos.) get money that they've not earned.
Now less than one-half of Americans pay any income taxes. Whenever a tax reduction is proposed, these very same American non-taxpayers, scream about "the rich getting tax breaks."
I can even go one step further - only those who pay taxes have any right to vote!!!
Non-taxpayers vote in people who promise to take from those who do pay taxes and give to those who do not, get elected. Non-taxpayers vote in people whose aim is to take even more from the taxpayers!
Now the government is demanding that we give up our private health insurance so that we can pay into a pot to continue the wealth transfer through the so-called "health care" business. Anyone who shows up at an emergency room is treated whether they can pay or not. The rest of us pay for their bill. If that's not bad enough, now Obama is demanding that I give up an insurance policy that I pay for in favor of his kind of "government insurance." Congress sure as hell is not going to be forced into this scam and neither is any government employee!!!
If this isn't financial tyranny and slavery, I don't know what is.
The article from Rush’s site was titled:
“Only The Rich Pay Taxes — Top 50% of Wage Earners Pay 96.03% of Income Taxes”
So, it’s income taxes only.
Here’s the footnote that I should have put underneath the chart:
“*Data covers calendar year 2001, not fiscal year 2001 - and includes all income, not just wages, excluding Social Security”
