SOMALI pirates have threatened revenge after two separate hostage-rescue raids by foreign forces killed at least five comrades, raising fears of future bloodshed on the high seas. The latest raid by US forces this morning saved American hostage Capt Richard Phillips. Three pirates were killed and one was taken captive, the US Navy said.
That rescue mission and one by France last week have upped the stakes in shipping lanes off the anarchic Horn of Africa nation where pirate gangs have defied foreign naval patrols.
"The French and the Americans will regret starting this killing. We do not kill, but take only ransom. We shall do something to anyone we see as French or American from now," Hussein, a pirate, told Reuters by satellite phone.
"We cannot know how or whether our friends on the lifeboat died, but this will not stop us from hijacking," he said.
Sea gangs generally treat their captives well, hoping to fetch top dollar in ransoms. The worst violence has been an occasional beating.

I like the plan. It's time to start doing what the liberals always accuse the military of doing and just let loose the dogs of war. There's no point in endlessly tying up aircraft that cost $50,000 an hour or Navy battle groups that are multi million dollars a day playing cat a mouse games with terrorist operations. Spend a few thousand dollars dropping leaflets letting them know that they will immediately desist their business model or they will be destroyed. If they don't surrender all their hostages and take up other hobbies the we've identified several pirate strongholds and we carpet bomb them into a crater one at a time using the cheapest dumb bombs we have until they surrender. Make sure they have plenty of warning so sufficient liberal reporters and lawyers can flock into the kill zone ahead of time.

Yeppers you are slow. Most of us Freepers keep up on the news and knew exactly what was being referred to. Bravo...wanted to say something to the "Brat" hours ago but could not think of a civil way to say it.

So you have two choices:
1. Dead or Alive
2. We send Chuck Norris and save a lot of time and money

Maybe Im slow, but I understood you to be claiming that Napolitano specifically said pirates should be called man-caused disaster makers. I could find no such statement; hence, I consider that a lie. Im curious - where you live, when you claim someone says something that they didnt actually say...do you not consider that a lie? What do you call it?

He was being sarcastic and making a joke when he said it. I think everyone on the thread got that except for you. Your return comment to FlyingEagle was rude and uncalled for, IMO.

One 50 cal and a trained gunman on the back of the boat could probably sink most of this filth.

One 50 cal and a trained gunman on the back of the boat could probably sink most of this filth. Of course, it would. However, arms of any kind on a merchant ship are against the UN treaty governing "safe passage".
This treaty seems to be demonstrating -- on an international scale -- how gun control really works.

The “idiotic US Navy vice-admiral” in question is Vice Admiral Gortney. he was responding to a reporter in a news conference who asked if the US response could result in escalating violence. He replied that it “escalate violence in this part of the world, no question about it.”
Pretty honest answer and hardly idiotic.

I personally think these people are cowards and if we go in with private security forces that do not need to sit and get an ok from BO before they shoot these pirates will not attack our ships and when that happens and others hire them to protect their ships then the pirates will do something really stupid and that is when we can go in as a nation and wipe them and their miserable villages off the map. We should parade their bodies around their country and across the internet.

“Pirates threaten retaliation.”
Heavens to Betsy! I wonder if they’ll attack the SEALs at Coronado or the Marines at Pendleton.
Quick, we’d better knit some more body armor.
