Here's a little bit about Oklahoma Sen. Coburn from Wikipedia:

Coburn was one of the most conservative members of the House. He supported reducing the size of the federal budget and opposed abortion and supported the proposed V-chip legislation.

Despite representing a heavily Democratic district, Coburn was reelected in 1996 (even as Bill Clinton easily carried the district) and 1998 without difficulty.[4][5]

While he served in the House, he earned a reputation as a maverick due to his frequent battles with House Speaker Newt Gingrich.[citation needed] Most of these stand-offs stemmed from his belief that the Republican caucus was moving toward the political left and away from the more conservative "Contract With America" policy proposals that had placed the Republicans into power in Congress in 1994 for the first time in 40 years. Specifically, Coburn was concerned that the Contract's term limits had not been implemented, and that the Republicans were continuing the excessive federal spending that they had so vigorously opposed when the Democrats were in the majority.[citation needed]

Coburn endorsed conservative activist and former diplomat Alan Keyes in the 2000 Republican presidential primaries, although he supported George W. Bush after the nomination was sewn up. Coburn's congressional district returned to the Democratic fold, as attorney Brad Carson easily defeated a Republican endorsed by Coburn. After leaving the House and returning to private medical practice, Coburn wrote a book in 2003, with ghostwriter John Hart[citation needed], about his experiences in Congress called Breach of Trust: How Washington Turns Outsiders Into Insiders. The book detailed Coburn's perspective on the internal Republican Party debates over the "Contract With America" and displayed his disdain for career politicians. Some of the figures he criticized (such as Gingrich) were already out of office at the time of publishing, but others (such as former House Speaker Dennis Hastert) remained very influential in Congress, which resulted in speculation that some congressional Republicans wanted no part of Coburn's return to politics.

He's now a Senator.

I love him because he is 100% pro-life and said he would go to jail before he'd kill an unborn baby. He is an obstetrician and has delivered over 4,000 children.

"I never expected him to give the order."

If you believe nothing else, believe this: Obami did not give any direct order. He allowed our military to deal with it, which is just one kudo I will give him.

The man is a Marxist and wants to minimilize our Nation, but he has NO concept of military operations and knew that if he got involved, it would be the end of his "community action" career. Smart, if you think about. Good for us.

To: Brilliant

The negotiations between the elders and American officials have broken down. The reason is American officials wanted to arrest the pirates in Puntland and elders refused the arrest of the pirates,” said the commissioner...

In other words, the only reason why we have a favorable outcome is that the Somalis would not let Obama have his way.

EXACTLY

the idiot never came out once to denounce the terrorists and I bet when he heard about the shooting obama put his head in his hands and thought crap, I wanted to talk to them

During the Pentagon press conference, the CNN reporter (name unknown) is making the case that taking the three pirates out is going to escalate violence by the pirates now.

The other CNN reporter is asking questions to be sure the captured pirate is not being mistreated, oh brother!!

Liberal bastards!!! Bring it on baby!!!!

I suspect he did authorize this directly, and people will just have to deal with the fact he did.

"i’ve done quite a bit of construction work for a retired FBI guy that ran the San Diego Office and he told me once that if he had had me he could fired half the idiots that were under him. I also gave him some advice on an estate that he was involved with that an attorney had totally screwed up and saved him a good many thousands."

Hi Dale, it's a great day in America. We have heroes again. America looks strong on this day, contrary to obami's hopes to minimize us on the World stage.

BTW, do you remember when we met in Palm Springs to impeach clintoon?

if bozo goes on the TV saying he gave the orders etc and this resulted in freeing the captain then I will smash my TV

bozo
never came out once to say the terrorists were bad
he never denounced them
he had no plans
he wanted to talk to them
and then he wanted to arrest them

the only reason the seals did what they did was because talks failed and the elders said they would not let them get arrested

If this was Bush, at tomorrows news conference David Gregory would ask, “why did it take 5 days before you did anything?”

Is anyone watching the Briefing on TV? The Pentagon is not releasing many details.

The operative phrase for now seems to be that the command in the area had the authority "to act if Captain Phillips was in imminent danger"

The commander in the area deemed this to be the case and ordered the action to proceed.

It doesn't sound like Bambi was micromanaging. If you're not OK with the outcome or you need to get to the doctor and be checked for ODC.

I HATE what Bambi has done to this country in the past 100 or so days but this situation ended WELL.

from an article update
excerpt..
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/piracy

Three U.S. warships were within easy reach of the lifeboat on Saturday. The U.S. Navy had assumed the pirates would try to get their hostage to shore, where they could have hidden him on Somalia’s lawless soil and been in a stronger position to negotiate a ransom.

“The Somali government wanted the drama to end in a peaceful way, but any one who is involved in this latest case had the choice to use violence or other means,” Abdulkhadir Walayo, the prime minister’s spokesman, told The Associated Press. “Any way, we see it will be a good lesson for the pirates or any one else involved in this dirty business.”

Jamac Habeb, a 30-year-old pirate, said that the killing of the three pirates was “a painful experience.”

“This is unfortunate action and our friends should have done more to kill the captain before they were killed. This will be a good lesson for us,” Habeb told the AP from one of Somalia’s piracy hubs, Eyl.

This ended in a wonderful way, no question. We can all Thank God on this Easter Sunday.

But, on back to my original statement which is - the Pentagon briefer seems to be holding back on some important questions.

Yes I’m watching the press conference. The icehole from NPR is using a line of questioning that is completely sympathetic to the fate of the pirates. In fact, most of them are, this is asbsolutely unbelievable. 95% scum, these press members are.
