Is anyone watching the Briefing on TV? The Pentagon is not releasing many details.
Andrew Mwangura of the East African Seafarers’ Assistance Programme said it was a pity similar attention was not paid to the nearly 250 other hostages......
The operative phrase for now seems to be that the command in the area had the authority "to act if Captain Phillips was in imminent danger"
The commander in the area deemed this to be the case and ordered the action to proceed.
It doesn't sound like Bambi was micromanaging. If you're not OK with the outcome or you need to get to the doctor and be checked for ODC.
I HATE what Bambi has done to this country in the past 100 or so days but this situation ended WELL.
Yes I’m watching the press conference. The icehole from NPR is using a line of questioning that is completely sympathetic to the fate of the pirates. In fact, most of them are, this is asbsolutely unbelievable. 95% scum, these press members are.
I watched most of it—one of the journalists asked if all this happened because Obama ordered it—the admiral giving the phone interview said yes—a moment later another reporter clarified (not verbatim)—”But isn’t there always standing orders from the White House (not specifically because Obama called the Bainbridge and ordered an assault or attack) that if the hostage/s are in danger, that you are allowed to do whatever is necessary to rescue them?”
“Yes. The President did not specifically order this action...” So Obama had NOTHING to do with Captain Phillips’ rescue after all!
SHAME ON HIM.
