Camille responds to a gay murder that occurred in the home of a high powered gay attorney with absolutely no coverage. Amazing but not amazing. She cites the 11th commandment of the liberal media, "thou shalt not speak ill of gays.... Whatever you say about Camille, she covers both sides and it is refreshing.

This crime was deep-sixed, predictably, and should be covered.

You can't normalize deviant behavior if you allow people to see how abnormal the behavior is.

See the nearby thread by Klavan -- the reason the story of this murder is not in the news is ... "shut up".

Duh. Some of us figured out a LONG time ago that the press is fundamentally dishonest (not that that's anything new with liberals) -- burying real news they don't like, promoting lesser items that agree with their agenda, and printing blatant fiction (lies) when necessary.

Had white heterosexual men lured, drugged and killed a woman or a black man in upscale NW Washington three weeks ago, we would all now know their names, hometowns, professions and every ugly detail of the crime.

Camille, love you for your honesty. Come on over to Conservatism — you’re almost here and the water’s warm!

Reminds me of the song, Oxford Town by Bob Dylan - especially the “somebody better investigate soon” line. When it comes to the MSM, it is simply not going to happen.

Oxford Town, Oxford Town
Ev’rybody’s got their heads bowed down
The sun don't shine above the ground
Ain't a-goin’ down to Oxford Town

He went down to Oxford Town
Guns and clubs followed him down
All because his face was brown
Better get away from Oxford Town

Oxford Town around the bend
He come in to the door, he couldn't get in
All because of the color of his skin
What do you think about that, my frien’?

Me and my gal, my gal's son
We got met with a tear gas bomb
I don't even know why we come
Goin’ back where we come from

Oxford Town in the afternoon
Ev’rybody singin’ a sorrowful tune
Two men died ‘neath the Mississippi moon
Somebody better investigate soon

Oxford Town, Oxford Town
Ev’rybody’s got their heads bowed down
The sun don't shine above the ground
Ain't a-goin’ down to Oxford Town

Make no mistake, Camille Paglia is a leftist. But, being an American individualist and proudly so, she refuses the blinders of group identity, and so group identity leftists hate her, particularly feminist group identity leftists. There are very few like her left on the left. She actually loves the truth, her country and her people. Despite her being wrongheaded about many things, she also gets a lot of things right, sometimes devastatingly so, and with a piercing wit and intelligence. I always enjoy reading her latest.

Bring the truth out about this, and every other sordid, buried crime of "protected" groups. Air it out. Daylight is healthy. This man went to the home of what he thought was an old college friend, and was drugged, sexually assaulted and murdered, by this so-called friend and two others. Let justice be served.

I really admire Camille Paglia’s intellectual honesty and integrity: she is never afraid to follow a lead, regardless of what it uncovers or whose sins might be revealed. Her opposite among gay journalists is Andrew Sullivan, who not only strictly adheres to the Liberal nostrum of “no enemies to the Left”, it is apparent he also sees none to the rear.

He does appears to invite "friendly fire".

I’ve read her stuff a few times at Drudge. As you say she covers both sides. In the 90’s, she went into a tirade when NOW when took Clinton’s side during the Juanita Broddrick thing. She also wrote about Clinton’s fondness for telling lesbian jokes when he was having a few drinks with his pals. I thought that was really interesting.

If you’re in with the MSM you get a lot of material if you have the guts to write about the hypocrisy around you.

Make no mistake, Camille Paglia is a leftist.

There's the problem, right there. On the one hand, she is an "individualist"; on the other, she is a leftist. It's a contradiction. You cannot consistently follow a philosophy of individualism and be a leftist. This contradiction in her thinking leads to highly fragmented writing and behavior: she calls herself a "libertarian," yet voted for Ralph Nader a few elections back; she enthusiastically voted for zerobama, and only AFTER the election started writing on Salon that, yes, zero was being "secretive" about his birth certificate. She believes that government spending is a good thing, as long as it is spent on the right kind of projects -- meaning, projects she personally agrees with -- such as "infrastructure." Her posts reveal her to be a complete ignoramus in economics...God forbid she should ever actually read something by Sowell or Friedman or Hazlitt and learn something about the subject before publishing an opinion on it.

She's really just a kind of well-educated, intellectual hippie whose claims to "individualism" and "libertarianism" rest on the fact that she is "anti-authority." It's a weak foundation to support a philosophy of freedom.

You also have to ask yourself why over 80 young, white college-age males have disappeared along the I-94 corridor in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and New York in recent years and are discovered later drowned in rivers or lakes. In almost every case, they were out drinking with friends at a bar or a party, got separated, and vanished. Police name every one of the deaths "accidental due to drinking and drowning" and close the cases. However, there are suspicions of a serial murder club called the Smiley Face Killers.

If young black males were disappearing under similar circumstances, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would be marching in the streets demanding justice. And if they were young female coeds, the story would be on Greta every single night from now until eternity.

Another student disappeared just last Sunday in St. Paul and has not been located:

Another point in the intellectually honest Ms. Paglia’s favor is that she is a friend of Rush Limbaugh. She supports his show (and his right to make his statements) constantly in her Salon peices. She (and he) seem to have a mutual respectn going. I think we are all judged by the people we keep company with.
