Along the subject of the Bailout.

I was just at my local bank, they informed me the Government is punishing those that DO NOT take the bailout money with a Fee based on their assets. This is nothing but a tax for dareing to be solvent and responsible. They said there is only one bank in Okla. that took the funds.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I had never heard of this before, anyone else?

Dumb me I did not ask which one, but I will find out, my guess Bank of America.

Such sudden disabuse has got to be hell for useful idiots, used to thinking of themselves possessing superior intelligence.

They're probably talking about the recent increase in fees to fund FDIC insurance. That fund comes from bank assessments and because it was depleting, they jacked up the rates.

Not the smartest move to tax banks more in a weakened sector, IMHO. I think FDIC should have borrowed from Treasury if needed and repaid when the economy comes back.

Thanks, I just thought it was a penalty tax for being solvent. Yet it is an increased FEE (tax). Yes they should have borrowed from treasury.

The guy in the video -- Cenk, from The Young Turks -- makes a decent point but even he is completely ignorant as to what a so-called toxic asset is. Those supposed toxic assets really do have a non-sero POSITIVE value. There are real mortgage payers who will continue to pay their mortgages on time and fulfil the terms on the contracts that underlie these so-called toxic assets.

The next time you hear someone refer to these things as toxic, ask them to explain what they mean by that to see if they really can. Shit, if it were up to me, I'd much rather have my payroill tax deductions going to purchase 'toxic assets' than I would seeing the federal government purchase a Special Issue bond from the Social Security Administration and proceed to piss away those funds on some unneeded spending program to buy votes from the short-sighted "give me" crowd.

Shaun Booth, the author of this piece, concludes that a third party is the only solution. Wrong! There are only two adult table in this game, all the rest are either spoilers or libs. Independants and Declined to States are feel “good parties” as they often proudly proclaim that they don’t belong to either one of the major. Yet those of us in a major party are still free to do as we like. There is no group think. Pick a party that best espouses your core beliefs. In my case it is Republican.

Thanks to the left, it leaves America on the same road it was on since day one of the Obama administration. And the left will vote for him again, and vote for whatever Demwit is fielded on their local ballots.
