JEFFERSON CITY As reported on the Mother Ship this morning, state Rep. Michael Corcoran, D-St. Ann, has been charged with drunk driving related to a traffic stop that occurred on Feb. 6 in St. Louis County.
Corcorans attorney says hell fight the charge.
But just facing the charge doesnt bode well for Corcorans political future. Corcoran is one of three Democrats who has announced his intention to run for the 24th District state Senate seat in 2010. The seat is currently occupied by Sen. Joan Bray, D-University City. She is unable to run again because of term limits. The last Missouri Democrat to run for Senate shortly after a DWI charge was Sen. Chuck Graham, D-Columbia, an incumbent who lost a close race to Republican challenger Kurt Schaefer. Grahams drunk driving incident was a prominent element of Schaefers campaign.
Besides Corcoran, former state Rep. Sam Page and Barbara Fraser, both Democrats, have announced they plan to seek the seat.

Add to Missouri ping list?
I would love to be the State Rep for Florissant. But I couldn’t get elected dogcatcher in North County. Did you know on the November 8th County Ballot here in STL county, there were four, count’em, four, boxes to check for tax increase proposals? All four of them passed..
Low volume ping list
FReepmail me to be on, or off, this list.
“D” “D” “D” “D” D” - keep mentioning that “D”
I know the increase in funding for Metro mass transit failed.
Mass Transit was on the State side of the ballot, I thought..
I thought it was a county thing, because I remember all the libs were pissed off at all the conservatives in Chesterfield, South County, and Creve Coeur for providing the margin for defeat.
Sorry bout ya Demorat! :)
