He told Jay Leno the puppy he promised his daughters would be in place when he got back from a NATO summit in Europe. But Barack Obama has been back at the White House since Wednesday.
So Mr. President ... where's the patter of little puppy paws?
What we know so far, based on what Obama and his wife, Michelle, have said, is that the choice is down to either a Portuguese Water Dog or a Labradoodle. Michelle Obama also has said the dog is coming this month.
Monday is the White House Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn, and 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha have no school that day.
Mrs. Obama said Thursday that the dog will arrive "soon ... so soon."
The president cracked jokes about the promised puppy when Leno sought details of its whereabouts.
"This is Washington. That was a campaign promise," Obama said when he appeared on Leno's talk show last month, as the audience roared with laughter. "No, I'm teasing. The dog will be there shortly."

I would guess his kids are use to Daddy breaking his promises.
Too bad the kids never got interviewed so they could warn America not to believe a word he says.

Never actually ever make good on a pledge. If you do make good on it; you lose the ability to use that same pledge again down the road.......

Seeing the way Obama handles his promises to his own daughters, do you really think he’ll treat you any better than he treats Malia and Sasha?
Muslims don’t have dogs as pets.
Polls are mixed on the dog issue- can’t really blame Obama for not being able to determine which dog would benefit him the most.
I expect him to pick a chihuahua- he had early trouble with the hispanic vote in 08 and such a choice could help him shore up that constituency.
Muslims don’t like dogs.
