That’s one thing I love about FR (Free Republic). You can get a helpful, straight answer without a bunch of static.
As a new emplyoyee I remember attending a human resource (HR) meeting one time and they kept talking about “POS”. It was so distracting that I finally asked, and I explained to them what “POS” meant at my old job. I noticed at meetings after that when they used various abbreviations they used the whole words the first few times before going into the acronyms.
I was with a group designing a “Point of Sale” system.
I tried to get them to use a different acronym...
But, no, we designed a POS system.
I was born in 1962 and the America of today is like living in a foreign country. The talking heads like to compare whats going on here as a transition to a form of European socialism. I spent considerable time in Europe in my younger days and what is going on here has got nothing to do with a transition to European socialism.
