The White House is denying that the president bowed to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia at a G-20 meeting in London, a scene that drew criticism on the right and praise from some Arab outlets.

“It wasn’t a bow. He grasped his hand with two hands, and he’s taller than King Abdullah,” said an Obama aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

I can see why this aide wanted to be anonymous, otherwise he’d probably have a new internet meme named after him, something that means “outrageously blatant liar.” Even the biggest Obama-lover cannot possibly view this video and conclude that he didn’t bow, and you would literally have to be BLIND not to see that the “two hands” thing is simply f*ckin’ NOT TRUE.

You know who else Obama is taller than? Queen Elizabeth. Did he feel compelled to bow to her for that reason? Nopes. You know who else he’s taller than? Probably 90% of the population, including most of the other world leaders at that summit. Has anyone ever seen him bow at the waist to a full 90 degrees to anyone other than King Abdullah? Um no.

This is so far beyond “spin” that it’s making me dizzy.

I especially love how some of his fans’ only response to this is “But! But! George Bush held hands with the same king! What about that? HUH?!?! ARGHGHGHG!!!” A$$holes. Holding hands is a gesture of friendship in Saudi, not a sign of subservience. Oh and by the way, if I recall correctly, conservatives were right pissed off when that happened.

And again, my main point is, if Chimpholster Monkeybubba Bush had done this, it’s all you’d hear about for weeks. The entire Left would have sh*t their pants, put on a new pair, sh*t those pants, and repeated this process for about a week.

(In all cautious fairness, though, is it really a “White House denial” when it’s just an anonymous aide? Honest question; wouldn’t want to get all flippy and then find out it’s a hoax or a “misstatement” or whatnot. Because it’s really so fantastically stupid and dishonest that it almost does seem like a hoax.)

If you pause the video at 0:55, you can see that Obama only used one hand to shake the kings hand - and he is bent over at that point. What a bumch of lies...

I still think Mr. Obama kissed King Abdullah's ring on the King's outstreched right hand, and some dark haired fellow in the foreground unfortunately obscured it for the cameras. And to kiss it, his head had to go down very far. It does not seem like a bow for a bow sake, but an effort (successful or not I am not sure) to kiss the ring of the King. (This, by the way, since 2004, has been discouraged in Saudi Arabia by the King himself, to his own countrymen as he does not accept the practice and considers it "un-Islamic". So Zero attempts to go local and go overboard, but ends up committing, probably, a faux paus in Saudi cultural contexts.)

Generally, among non metrosexual world leader males, a vigorous handshake and a smile, perhaps a light nod, is sufficient and called for, and does not relegate one country to another. This is in fact with Zero should have done in the first place.

The White House spokesmen is a real snake of a liar, too, I might add, when pressed on this question at a White House presser. Sheesh, talk about spinnnnnnnn.....
