HCR 50 Reiterates Texas Rights Over Powers Not Otherwise Granted to Federal Government
AUSTIN Gov. Rick Perry today joined state Rep. Brandon Creighton and sponsors of House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 50 in support of states rights under the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state, Gov. Perry said. That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.
A number of recent federal proposals are not within the scope of the federal governments constitutionally designated powers and impede the states right to govern themselves. HCR 50 affirms that Texas claims sovereignty under the 10th Amendment over all powers not otherwise granted to the federal government.
It also designates that all compulsory federal legislation that requires states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties, or that requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding, be prohibited or repealed.
HCR 50 is authored by Representatives Brandon Creighton, Leo Berman, Bryan Hughes, Dan Gattis and Ryan Guillen.

God Bless Mr. Perry, Mr. Creighton and the state of Texas.

This is NOT the governor Perry I know. Actually growing a pair? I’ll believe it when I see it.
It is for sure his opponent cannot grow them.
I thought the exact same thing.
Lets see how far he will run with it.
>> This is NOT the governor Perry I know. Actually growing a pair? Ill believe it when I see it.
He’s looking ahead to the primary, and moving to the right of Kay Bailey Rinocerouson. Not that that’s much of a challenge.
Goodness knows if he can and will hold the line. I don’t know whether to trust him or not.
My opinion of both of them is fairly low.
I heard they had the money to build the fence and it went to other things. So we shall see.
I saw Perry on Beck’s show today actually talking about defending the border and stating the Feds have not been doing their job over the past years.
Talking up defending the border AND defending state’s rights all in one day. Whoa!
I, too, will have to wait and see because talk is cheap.
Section 4. The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the legislature, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence.
My knee jerk reaction is that this is just Texas swagger to get him some press and his ultimate goal is to run for president in 2012.

Every so often, Governor Hairdo says or does the correct thing.
Well let your knee jerk all it wants. We still need to take a stand and tell the Feds to go to Hell. Remember, we entered this country by treaty as a sovereign nation, a republic. We must never forget that state of mind.
PING
Also Glen Beck will be at the San Antonio Tea Party on the 15th at the Alamo!!
Even our little town is having a tea party. Wow.
