Arlen Specter Wins Howard Stern's Endorsement
Talking Points Memo DC ^ | 4/7/09 | Eric Kleefeld

Posted on 04/09/2009 2:15:13 AM PDT by Born Conservative

Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA), who is facing a likely primary rematch with his 2004 opponent Pat Toomey, has picked up a high-profile endorsement: Howard Stern, The Hill reports, after Specter appeared on the Stern show. Howard offered to write Specter a check, which Specter accepted, and then the two of them encouraged all the listeners to contribute, too.

This makes sense in many ways, really. Stern's own politics match up pretty well with Specter, as Stern is an economic conservative and cultural liberal (okay, make that cultural libertine). That, and Howard has a proven record of endorsing politicians who have the nerve to come on his show, and those pols have usually been northeastern Republicans like Specter, Christie Whitman and George Pataki, among others.

A Howard Stern endorsement. That’s odd. I thought he only endorsed lesbians and strippers?

So does "Trailer Trash Britney Spears" and the virus "Hepatitis-C". All the same, Specter needs any endorsement he can get right now.

"Specter needs any endorsement he can get right now."

I'd vote for a democrat first.

They (GOP) have had several chances over the years to get that rat bastard out of there.

He represents everything that is evil in the republican party.

I need to explain to Mr. Spector, Mr. Stern and this reporter what “economic conservative” is, because I think they are confused.

I had a similar thought. You can save any energy you might have used to communicate with Specter. He marches to his own drummer and is oblivious to his constituents' pleas.

This is the first time I’ve seen Howard Stern’s named mentioned in over a year — well 2 years if you don’t count Anna Nicole Smith’s lawyer.

The few times I’ve ever seen Howard’s show, which is disgusting, I always thought his token, Robin, seemed to be madly in love with him. She giggled and agreed with him like a 7th grade girl in love. As he sat there begging whatever floozie was on air to show her boobies or talked about her rear end, Robin giggled and oohed and awed.....it was embarrassing to watch.

You know I forget he had had a TV show. I caught it a few times. It was like watching a traffic accident.

There was a little flabby guy with long hair he liked to abuse who would just grin and take it.

The ones I knew at work who were really into Stern -- all guys -- seemed to have wound up with some serious life problems.

Stern always reminds me of a very immature 14 year old boy who is seeing boobies for the first time and isn’t quite sure whether to be excited or grossed out....
