CNN's Rick Sanchez Blames Fox News, 'Right-Wing Radio' For [Pittsburgh] Cop Killings
NewsBusters.org ^ | 4/8/2009 | Matthew Balan

CNN’s Rick Sanchez returned to blasting conservatives on Wednesday’s Newsroom program, blaming the murder of three Pittsburgh police officers on the Fox News Channel and other media on the right: “That weekend tragedy involves a man who allegedly shot and killed three police officers in cold blood. Why? Because he was convinced, after no doubt watching Fox News and listening to right-wing radio, that quote, ‘Our rights were being infringed upon.’” He tag-teamed with Media Matters fellow Eric Boehlert to argue that conservative media personalities like Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity were offering “garden-variety fear and hate mongering...night in and night out.”

One could be sure that Sanchez would be pointing his finger squarely at his competitors on the right from the first moment he mentioned the gun issue, which was 13 minutes into the CNN program. After playing audio of gunshots from the Pittsburgh murders, he gave the following promo: “What you’re hearing there is three police officers killed by a man who thought President Obama would take away his guns. Who put that thought in his head? And how many more Americans believe that? Could it be 1.2 million Americans? You’re going to see why I’m asking that question.” Sanchez gave a further hint that his target was Fox News during another promo ten minutes later: “Are Americans being fed a pack of lies about President Obama and guns laws? And is it creating a gun buying panic? “We’ll report, you decide.” That’s not too obvious is it?

I used to be subjected to that assclown’s show during lunch.

The sound was off, forcing me to focus on his overly-dramatic kabuki-esque hand gestures.

What an airhead.

CNN’s Rick Sanchez is DUMBER than a Box of Rocks — I apologize to the Rocks for the insulting comparison.

The Commies like Sanchez are up to their old Commie tricks again. Blame the right for everything. I guess he misses the good old days of blaming President Bush for all of the evil in the world. Sanchez needs to go home to Mexico where they appreciate maggots like him.

I live in the Pittsburgh market. This has been a horrific story from start to finish. The three fallen Officers are currently lieing in state in our City/County Building. Literally thousands of Police from around the country have come to pay their respects. Thousands of people are waiting in line to file by and pay their respects. The families of these three men are devasted...and to this mix a jacka$$ like Rick Sanchez politicizes their deaths. What a little puke he is.

CNN is a disgrace.

Lefties have such notions about conservatives.

We could tell them all day that this could happen to a mentally ill person of any political persuasion and all they’d do is go LALALALA and plug their ears.

Rick Sanchez should talk..He MURDERED a man, drove drunk, killed a guy. He is the last person that should be talking about taking responsibility. He is lucky he isn’t in jail

Rick just injures people with his car.

It happened on Dec. 10, 1990. Mr. Sanchez, seriously drunk behind the wheel, with his dad
as passenger, was leaving a Miami Dolphins game. He had barely left the stadium parking area
before he hit a man who was running between cars, and who (unfortunately) was also drunk.
Undoubtedly helped by invisible friends on the police force, Sanchez was not charged with
causing the accident, but was later charged with (and pleaded no contest to) DUI.

But here’s the cowardly part:
Sanchez initially left the scene of the accident for 2 full hours.

One local report said he first went home to get his license and fell asleep. (Yeah, right.)

Anyway, by the time he meandered back to the scene and his dilly-dallying cop friends
tested him for alcohol, it was at least four hours after the accident. Even with all his friends
helping him, Sanchez’s blood still registered .15 — way above the then-legal-limit of .10.

Closing chapter for victim: The Miami Herald, Nov. 2, 1995

“Jeffrey Smuzinick, who was left paralyzed after being struck by the car of Channel 7 anchor
Rick Sanchez, died Monday in a Pennsylvania nursing home. He was 36. Smuzinick was injured
Dec. 10, 1990, after he ran out into traffic following a Dolphins football game. He was struck by
A 1991 Volvo driven by Sanchez. Smuzinick suffered severe head injuries and was in a coma
for many months. He underwent rehabilitation in Florida ...”

Oddly enough when Rick Sanchez was in Miami he took a little known Fox station to the top of the news heap by chasing cop cars to murder scenes. “The Blood on the Streets” segment.

It got to the point where if you were gangbanger your greatest “cred” was that Rick Sanchez covered one of your hits.

Rick Sanchez and Shepard Smith both graduated from the same Fox Miami station, WSVN-7.

The 7 dead policeman in one week horrified me.

My son is a police officer and these guys were all killed by maniacs. Period.

Obama is creating a gun buying panic. Obama is responsible for these killings because of who he appointed, such as gun grabber AG Holder.

Sanchez doesn't get it, or gets it and doesn't want people knowing.

Careful Sanchez. The crazies are watching what you are saying!

I used to see Rick Sanchez at the local pub all of the time on his off nights from WSVN when I lived in South Florida. This is back when he was doing crime watch and garbage like that.

Rick’s main ghost isn’t the DUI story...no no no...it is the cocaine cowboys he was involved with that got him kicked off the air and sent to Houston for a few years and then his Cuban buddies back in Miami took care of that issue for him.

Snoop around a bit...you’ll find it.

I lived in S. Fl., too, but I don’t remember the cocaine story. I definitely remember the DUI story, though. I’m surprised he isn’t a janitor somewhere (no offense to janitors) and I can’t believe he’s on CNN. You would think a Cuban would have more appreciation for our freedoms.

Using this line of “logic”. WHo do we blame for when that man went into a church and started shooting people. Oh yeah that’s right he just had mental problems. Just another example of left wing hypocrocy (yes even leftist can be hypocrites).
