Maybe I can shed some light onto it. When Jim Crow affected African-Americans (By the way, which Obama is not), African-Americans were forced to bring their own food with them. The food that was most often brought were fried chicken, watermelon and other food that was portable and easily carried. So in essence, when somebody made fun of a black person eating fried chicken in older times, they were making fun of him or her not being able to eat in local restaurants.
But yeah, opening up an “Obama Fried Chicken” stand would be akin to opening up a Tony Blair borscht stand.

You would think after all that they would be sick of those foods though.
I taught a bunch of African-American kids last year and many of them (not all of them of course) said fried chicken was still a favorite food.
That doesn’t do much to get rid of that old stereotype.
