One of a multitude of reasons for term limits. The seniority system has this bug chaser with a speach impediment ru(i)ning American finances into insolvency.

Sir, may I be so bold so as to say, you are mean, nasty, vicious, vengeful, vindictive, uncaring, cold, calculating, unpleasant, libelous, AND ABSOLUTELY CORRECT IN WHAT YOU SAY.
The people of the PDRM (People’s Democratic Republic of Massachusetts) do deserve what they are getting.
MY problem is I AM A PRISONER of the PDRM.

I don't like term limits. Short term it would help but long term it would hurt.

Barney Frank's district will produce some of equal or worse value to represent his district once he is gone.

Nancy Pelosi as bad as she is had to defeat a green party a communist and someone who wanted to make her district a separate country for her seat.

Besides, as much as I loathe the liberals it is their right to vote for someone who represents them.

One thing I don't like is the district gerrymandering. This is the area we should be attacking.

“I think you are right. I just don’t get the whole liberal/urban thing. ... Some days I feel really archaic.—JM”

Well, best I can tell is that urban types are those who seem most needy...as in they require more than the avg emotional/financial/social support. This is why theyre dems/libs...or maybe its the other way round?? :) Theres very little in them to be self responsible/reliant. I guess you could class them as Lemmings in a way. Anyway, I dont understand it either. Why would you want to live that way?

re feeling archaic...in this age thats a badge of honor not shame. In their rush to be modern this age is running right over the cliff all the while announcing how smart they are. LOL...theyre in for a surprise. Only problem is theyve signed me up to be responsible.

REVOLT! If anyplace needs a conservative 3rd party, it's Massachusetts. If one showed up, it would effectively replace the dead GOP within one election cycle.

REVOLT, damn it!

By the way I grew up in the city and live one mile from the Boston city line today.

My childhood ran between the late sixties and into the early eighties. Probably the least safe time for any big city, from race riots to crack wars I was there.

Since you are from the country and get your info on city life from sources like NBC and MTV I'll give you a little insight.

All the boys in my family were required to take boxing. My dad knew that we needed it for survival and boy did it come in handy. From being mugged on my way home from school to being jumped by some “minorities” on my way to a baseball game. I know people in prison and I have friends and family that are cops. I saw a lot of things that a kid shouldn't have to see. I probably grew up to fast as well.

The metrosexuals you talk about are not city kids. These are suburban and country folk like yourself who come to our cities to live in the yuppie sections.

These types wouldn't last a minute in my old neighborhood and neither would you. It is hard to describe what it was like without showing you first hand. About the closest Hollywood movie that really showed Boston accurately was a movie called Monument Ave. The departed was close but a little over the top at the end.

As far as dependency goes my state sends in more federal tax dollars than it receives back. How does your state do?

LOL...guess we hit a raw nerve huh. No need to be cranky though. :)

I lived N of Boston and ventured in quite often. My comments are based on those observations. I dont watch NBC or MTV for any reason. I do watch Fox occasionally.

Being a “prisoner” means that as an American citizen I am free to abandon this sinking ship at any time I so desire, BUT
...as Daddy and Grandpa.....I cannot and will not leave.
So, I am reduced to grumbling, arguing, debating and voting.
So far ......Oh well, I enjoy the kids.

Raw nerve? No, I hear it all the time on Freerepublic. Just thought I would educate you non-city types a little. By the way when you go about bashing the city people you're no different than DU and their constant bashing of the south and country.

It sounds like you must be venturing in the Back Bay and South End a little to often. There are other parts of the city you know.

There are currently NO statewide elected Republican officials in Massachusetts. The state party apparatus is so feckless and weak that in the last election, only about 17% of the legislative seats were challenged. Democrats have controlled both legislative houses since 1958, and the current margins favor the Democrats by 35-5 in the Senate and (I swear I'm not making this up) 144-16 in the House. The Republican caucus could meet in an Amtrak dining car - a small dining car. Democrats hold 100% of the state's Congressional seats and their two U.S. senators have been in office for 46 and 24 years, respectively.

I left Massachusetts 12 years ago, and since then, it has only gotten worse.

LOL, well Ill consider myself ‘reeducated’ then. :) My experience is mostly in the N & S ends. Heard of Back Bay but never went there (to my knowledge). What part of town is the Museum of Fine Arts in? Been there a few times too.

BTW Im from the S. :)

Hey, if it needs bashing then it should be. ;) Still think you city guys are needy....just saying. Look at all the support you need from the country. :)

Museum of Fine Arts is in the Fenway. Back Bay runs from Arlington street to Mass. Ave, east to west and From Storrow Drive to Hunnington Ave, North to South.

Most major cities in the U.S. send more money out than what comes in for taxes. Small cities, think Lawrence are another story.
