I may have misspoke on that point then. Manchin might be, but I’ve never heard his position. If Tim Kaine is pro-life, that also is news to me. His positions I always read as militantly leftist down the line.
The only thing I came across was this blog entry:
http://rightdemocrat.blogspot.com/2009/04/pro-life-democrat-tim-kaine-stands-by.html
I’ve heard many Dems claim not to be pro-abort, but they won’t support any pro-life legislation.
It was my conclusion Kaine was not picked as a running mate because they didn’t want the VA Governorship falling into GOP hands.
You’re right that Kaine and maybe Manchin talk pro-life but govern pro-abortion. That’s often the case with pro-life Democrats, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that Weygand congressional voting record on abortion was excellent, with only a handful of slip-ups (such as voting in favor of the sham substitute amendment to the Unborn Victims of Violence Act):
Weygand’s replacement in the House, Jim Langevin, voted pro-life (with a handful of exceptions) in his first years in Congress, but switched to pro-abortion in the debate over federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research (he is paraplegic, and may have fallen for the lies about how killing babies will help repair spinal cords on adults), and has since become pro-abortion in all his votes:
Kaine is John Kerry style “pro-lifer”.
Manchin may actually be pro-life, I don’t know.
So the RI State Treasurer is to the right of Lincy? Lol.
Was Bruce Morrsion to the right of Lowell Weicker?
