President Barack Obama sought Monday to make American amends with the Islamic world after eight years of tension, declaring in a speech to the Turkish parliament that he is determined to have a partnership with the Muslim world.
Let me say this as clearly as I can: the United States is not and will never be at war with Islam, Obama said in remarks delivered in Ankara. In fact, our partnership with the Muslim world is critical not just in rolling back the violent ideologies that people of all faiths reject but also to strengthen opportunities for all people.
Obamas declaration that the U.S. is not at war with Islam is certain to get huge play throughout the Arab world.
Former President George W. Bush said many times that Islam is a religion of peace. In a 2003 interview with the Arab news network Al Arabiya, he said: I believe that all the world, whether they be Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, prays to the same God. That's what I believe. I believe that Islam is a great religion that preaches peace.
Obama, seeking to mend strains with a critical ally that bridges Europe and the Middle East, acknowledged difficulties these last few years.

*blink*
If Bambi says so...
There are those who disagree, first among them the more knowledgeable Moslems. They will recognize that Obama’s friends worship Shatan.
*rolling eyes* Keep on racking up those anti-Christ points, don’t ya’, Big 0?
Please get out of my country, Mr. Obama.
Yeah, right.
Uhhhhhhh, no we don’t worship the same. As a Christian....I don’t worship the ‘moon god’.
But Islam is at WAR with US!
Islam is a religion of peace, and they have a stack of dead bodies to prove it.
Christians and muslims do not pray to the same God.
Christians pray to the Everlasting I Am that I Am.
muslims pray to the god of this world.
Hmmm...I’m pretty sure my God doesn’t want me cutting off heads.
No kidding. My God teaches me to love my enemies. Their God wants to kill everyone who doesn’t share their beliefs. Seems like a fundamental contradiction to me.
Sounds like the ELCA when they ignore the words of the Creed as they recite it week after week.
The "Trinity" package is very specific, to the exclusion of all else.
Except for all those wacky libertarians! They're just, well, wacky! |

1 John 4:5-6
They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. 6We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit[a] of truth and the spirit of falsehood.
Pretty accurate description of 0bama and his supporters. BTW, “the spirit of falsehood” is Satan, the Spirit of truth is God’s Holy Spirit.
That quote was from G.W. Bush—not BO.
