The typical way to say good night is "gute Nacht." That is the only one I'm familiar with. There might be some variants to that, though.

Thank you for the reply, I greatly appreciate it...

I really wish I had learned more about my relatives and their native language when my Mother was alive (we probably all feel that way though about some things when we lose a loved one)

I was only 24 when she passed away, and I had 3 young children, and she lived out-of-state, so time seemed to really slip away. Too many questions unasked...). I know her father came to the US before WWI and my Mom was born in 1939. I kind of got the feeling that with the outbreak of WWII her parents rarely spoke German except when with friends... I can definitely understand why they would make that choice.
